Transcript of "Science Project"

  1. 1. 10 different structures with definitions!!! Structures Woohooo!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!! WOOT WOOT !!!!!
  2. 2. Beam Bridge A beam bridge is a flat surfaced bridge A beam bridge needs to be stiff. It needs to resist twisting and bending under load. In its most basic form, a beam bridge consists of a horizontal beam that is supported at each end by piers. The weight of the beam pushes straight down on the piers.
  3. 3. Truss Bridge Truss Bridges are light weight structures made of trusses along it, too make it stable and secure
  4. 4. Suspension Bridge A suspension bridge is a structure that hangs between two ends to hold it up!!!
  5. 5. Arch Bridge An arch bridge’s structure is built to with stand heavy loads
  6. 6. Shell Structure Shell Structure is a structure with a solid outer surface *which may be rounded or flat in shape*with a hollow inner area For Example a Styrofoam cup
  7. 7. Frame Structure Structure supported mainly by a skeleton, or frame, of wood, steel, or reinforced concrete rather than by load-bearing walls.
  8. 8. Solid Structure A solid structure is made of a solid piece *or solid pieces * of strong material such as cement
  9. 9. Another Beam Bridge :P:P Beam bridges are the simplest kind of bridge today. They are a direct descendant of the log bridges, now more commonly made from shallow steel, I beams, or concrete!
  10. 10. Another Arch Bridge The advantages of the segmental arch bridge were that it allowed great amounts of flood water to pass under it, which would prevent the bridge from being swept away during floods and the bridge itself could be more lightweight
