● Michael J. Fox was born Michael Andrew Fox in 1961 to parents William
and Phyllis in Edmonton, the capital of the Canadian province of Alberta.
● Fox debuted as a professional actor at 15, co-starring in the sitcom Leo
and Me on Canadian Broadcasting Corp.
● Fox received three Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe, making him one of
the country's most prominent young actors.
● In 1991, Fox was diagnosed with on set parkinson’s disease which he later
disclosed to the public in 1998
● After the knowledge became public, Fox dedicated himself to the research
of Parkinson’s disease.
3. Start of the foundation
Late in the year of 2000, after Michael J. Fox
retired from “Spin City”, he started the Michael
J. Fox foundation for Parkinson’s research.
