    Over a life time …..
    with your education …..
    youwill make well
    over a million dollars!
  • 5. How do they survive?
    • they are present/they pay attention to their surroundings
    they plan
    they network
    they use their resources
  • 6. So let’s use those skills to “survive” and be successful in College.
  • 7. Get to know the VOCABULARY
    Lottery
    Drop/add
    Withdrawal
    Academic warning, probation, suspension
    Registration
    Semester
    GPA
    Syllabus
    Pell Grant
    Your Student Handbook has definitions and information on all of these terms and many more…………….
  • 8. PLANNING
    Before classes start:
    Have the materials you need
    At least look at your textbooks to see what the courses are about
  • 9. Time Management is Key
    After classes start:
    Use a planner (you are juggling work, family, school and play). Schedule class time, work, study time and “fun”
    Have a backup plan for getting to school, child care, etc.
    Read your text book
    Review frequently
    Have a regular study place and time
    Plan ahead for test, projects, papers and the big game or other events.

    Be “present” and
    Pay attention
  • 11. You must attend class and be there mentally, too!

  • 12. Your instructor gives you clues every class as to what is important and what you will see on quizzes, tests and exams. How?
    Handing out printed material

    Telling you “you will see this again.” This is important.
