  • 1.   1       THE  WHEEL  SPEAKS  ON  2013  –  Aging  Gracefully     Denzel  Washington  will  be  59  years  old  in  a  few  months  and  he  made  me  seriously   think  about  something  a  few  months  back  when  he  got  the  GQ  Magazine  cover  and   spread.  Although  I  am  very  conscious  and  have  been  my  entire  life  about  not  only   the  way  I  look  but  the  way  I  feel  as  well.  Sometimes  as  especially  being  a  man   particularly  one  of  African  American  decent  we'll  sometimes  get  caught  up  on  the   external  and  our  physicality.  Black  although  we'll  hear  a  constant  phrase  often   where  especially  black  folks  love  saying  "black  don't  crack".    
  • 2.   2   Which  of  of  course  is  meant  as  being  complimentary  and  although  on  the  outside   we'll  look  marvelous  it's  important  especially  as  African  American  we  concentrate   more  on  our  total  wellness  both  on  the  inside  and  outside.  I  wrote  a  few  articles  in   the  last  few  weeks  were  I  specifically  talk  about  our  dietary  habits  and  what  we   need  to  consciously  remove  from  our  diets.     (THE  WHEEL  SPEAKS  ON  2013  –  Agent  Orange  Food  Disorder   http://www.slideshare.net/THE_WHEEL/the-­‐wheel-­‐speaks-­‐on-­‐2013-­‐agent-­‐orange-­‐food-­‐ disorder)     And  we  have  to  begin  to  eliminate  certain  things  in  particular  which  may  have  once   been  a  regular  part  of  your  day  namely  stress.  Stress  as  well  another  invisible  killer   of  especially  African  American  men  is  anxiety  something  you’ll  very  hear  us  at  least   verbally  speak  publicly  about  these  two  items.  Maybe  we  might  be  a  little  to  proud   or  it’s  just  an  ego  or  macho  thing  but  in  the  black  communities  it’s  just  rare  to  hear   especially  black  men  truthfully  vent.  Being  some  may  perceive  it  as  a  weakness  but   the  bottom  line  is  would  you  like  to  be  considered  weak  or  dead?  Seems  like  an  easy   decision  once  it’s  dealt  with  both  realistically  and  consciously  and  the  people  that   truly  love  you  will  make  sure  you  stay  around.       People  we’re  around  everyday  at  our  place  or  employment  socially  and  our  intimate   circle  of  friends  and  most  importantly  our  living  environment.  Like  second  hand   smoking  never  be  under  the  impression  that  just  because  you’re  not  the  combative   one  that  arguing  constant  bickering  and  gossiping  won’t  effect  you  because  it  will.   Cancer  doesn’t  always  attack  the  immune  system  of  those  who  spoke  or  ingest   cancerous  products  and  stress  is  just  something  that  can  physically  debilitate  or   even  stricken  anyone  at  the  least  likely  time.  In  other  words  if  you’re  in  a   relationship  where  you  mate  might  be  constantly  complaining  or  you’re  around   people  who  on  the  regular  do  nothing  but  gossip  or  talk  negatively  about  others  and   even  sometimes  even  after  you’re  objection  that  can  lead  to  a  stress  filled  life.     Exercise  is  something  that  even  if  we  conscious  partake  in  regularly  many  of  us   aren’t  really  experiencing  maximized  results  for  our  efforts  which  in  some  cases   even  contribute  to  the  body  physically  breaking  down.  Specifically  speaking  to  men   in  the  age  demographic  of  40  years  old  and  over  in  moderate  shape  who  work  out   regularly  and  maybe  on  an  active  split  day  daily  routine  the  metabolisms  still  quite   responsive.  But  what  about  those  who  aren’t  actively  working  out  regularly  or  even   those  who  may  have  put  on  a  few  pounds?  The  metabolism  has  slowed  down   basically  being  inactive  you  no  longer  burn  off  the  calories  you  may  have  burn  when   younger  and  of  course  more  active.  The  cardiovascular  system  the  circulatory   system  circulates  blood  and  lymph  through  the  body,  consisting  of  the  heart,  blood   vessels,  blood,  lymph,  and  the  lymphatic  vessels  and  glands.  Lymph  is  physiology  a   colorless  fluid  containing  white  blood  cells.  That  bathes  the  tissues  and  drains   through  the  lymphatic  system  into  the  bloodstream.      
  • 3.   3   So  basically  when  activity  does  decease  you  guessed  it  one  is  more  susceptible  to   gain  weight  one  of  the  reasons  why  in  some  instances  it  can  be  almost  stunning  how   rapid  the  physical  appearance  can  change.       That’s  why  the  older  you  get  the  emphasis  should  be  more  concentrated  on  your   cardio  for  stamina  and  as  well  resistance  and  utilizing  resistance  bands.  There  are   several  advantages  to  using  resistance  bands.  The  advantage  in  resistance  bands   that  resistance  is  maintained  through  every  part  of  the  motion  while  many  similar   free  weight  exercises  are  actually  non  performing  work  during  parts  of  the  lift  when   movement  isn't  against  gravity  at  a  large  enough  angle.  And  the  older  we  get  it’s   definitely  vital  to  take  tie  time  as  well  make  an  effort  to  engage  muscles  groups  that   probably  haven’t  receive  any  attention  in  some  cases  years.  Muscle  memory  isn’t   just  a  myth  and  basically  when  the  muscle  isn’t  engaged  anything  traumatic  that   may  suddenly  be  subjected  to  the  muscle  might  lead  to  a  serious  injury.  Think  about   how  many  times  you’ve  heard  about  a  friend  rupture  or  tear  and  Achilles  tendon  or   tear  a  anterior  cruciate  ligament?       It’s  almost  like  reading  a  book  you  could  have  read  the  book  twenty  times  before  in   your  youth  but  as  the  years  go  by  the  muscle  in  this  instance  the  brain  due  to  not  a   lack  of  activity  but  due  to  unfamiliar  activity  the  brain  may  forget  what  was  second   nature.  Muscles  must  be  stimulated  and  nurtured  basically  prepping  them  by   warming  up  before  a  workout  as  well  cooling  down  even  possibly  treating  one  self   to  a  massage  like  many  athletes  who  consider  there  bodies  as  a  corporation  will   regularly  partake  in  this  relaxing  way  of  therapeutically  respecting  there  muscles.   Speaking  of  relaxing  it’s  important  to  begin  to  take  an  honest  assessment  of  oneself   no  matter  how  great  you’ve  been  told  you  look.  As  I  initially  stated  at  the  beginning   of  this  article  we  tend  to  let  flattery  be  a  detriment  and  sadly  when  we  begin  the   believe  in  the  hype  we’re  more  susceptible  to  heart  attacks  strokes  and  so  many   silent  assassins  that  can  sometimes  even  kill  you.    Sociably  even  though  you  may   enjoy  a  cigar  although  it’s  hard  to  quit  them  cold  turkey  regulate  your  indulgence   maybe  to  only  special  occasions.  Weddings  birth  of  a  child  graduations  etc.,  not   every  single  day  that’s  definitely  going  to  catch  up  with  anyone  and  the  alcohol   doesn’t  even  have  to  be  discussed  we  already  are  well  aware  of  the  effects  it  has  on   the  human  body.     Today  I  will  be  receiving  a  thorough  physical  living  for  over  a  half  a  century  does   have  an  infectious  effect  on  anyone  who’s  happy  about  where  they  are  in  life  and  the   goal  is  to  stay  around.    There’s  not  a  mystery  about  it  at  all  the  mysteries  with  many   men  sadly  is  there  inability  to  address  issues  that  may  nag  them  everyday  simply   put  there’s  nothing  wrong  with  living  long  and  strong  and  aging  gracefully.     Respectfully,   THE  WHEEL  SPEAKS  ON  2013   (The  Way  Humanity/Hudson  Expects  Everyone  to  Live)
