  • 1. a global vision for software testing ACCESSIBILITY SYMPOSIUM AIMS TO ‘LIFTPress Release THE CLOUD OF LIMITATION’ 18th September, London UK – A thought provoking event run by TCL and centred around accessibility took place in central London last week with representatives from organisations such as giffgaff, TK Maxx and the RNIB experiencing presentations from industry experts. Kicking off with an introduction to accessibility, TCL’s Richard Morgan explored the legal, moral and financial rewards of raising accessibility standards. James Rosewell, Director at 51Degrees.mobi Limited followed with his presentation on ‘Accessibility and the Small Screen Mobile Device’ where he examined the potential and issues surrounding the new advancements in mobile technology. Although this sparked debate on privacy issues, the capacity for these advancements to assist people with accessibility requirements is undeniable. Finally, accessibility guru Julian Harty gave the audience his thoughts on accessibility; an area where, after working with companies such as eBay and Google, he now spends his time and energy, alongside people, companies and projects that leverage technology to help people. Richard Morgan, TCL, presents Richard Morgan, TCL, said of the event ’‘Accessibility is a ‘Accessibility: Opportunity, Threat and Responsibility’ massively important issue within the technology sector that unfortunately only ever seems to come to the fore through negative stories around court cases. With the Star Testing event, TCL aspired to bring together some high profile companies and call them to action to improve the current accessibility standards. It was a great event with some interesting conversations that will hopefully inspire a move forward in relation to accessibility.’ All presentations will be available on TCL’s YouTube channel, as well as post event interviews with the presenters. The next Star testing event will be centred around Mobile Applications with a focus on Mobile Payments.
