  • 2. LinkedIn Search LinkedIn Search is a powerful business tool. Recruiters and Hiring Managers use it to find people with the necessary Skills. Will your LinkedIn Profile be found for the Skills you have? Test it - Use the Search bar in LinkedIn & search for “Social Media Coach Winston-Salem” See if Teddy Burriss Shows up near the top.
  • 3. Introduction LinkedIn Skill Words/Phrases are important for your success using LinkedIn. There are at least 9 areas of your LinkedIn Profile where you should put your Skill Words/Phrases.
  • 4. Placement # 1 It’s called a LinkedIn Headline because you can use it for much more than just your job title. Consider using the pipe character “|” to include your top 2 or 3 Skill words/phrases
  • 5. Placement # 2 Sprinkle your skill words/phrase out in the story you tell in your Summary area. This story needs to be all about who you are today including your skill words/phrases.
  • 6. Placement # 3 Your Job Titles should include the primary skill words/phrases that represent what you do in your current and job and what you did in previous jobs.
  • 7. Placement # 4 The Job Description areas of your LinkedIn Profile is not for your resume. Include your skill words/phrases here.
  • 8. Placement # 5 The only publications you should display on your LinkedIn Profile are documents relevant to who you are today. Include your Skill words/phrases in the description
  • 9. Placement # 6 The Organization area of your LinkedIn Profile is where you present the relevant civic and industry organizations you are a member of. If the Organization titles have Skill words in them, LinkedIn Search will find them.
  • 10. Placement # 7 Be sure to ask for LinkedIn Recommendations. Make sure they used your Skill words/phrases in the Recommendation.
  • 11. Placement # 8 Use your Skill words/phrases in your Education Descriptions. LinkedIn Search will find them here as well.
  • 12. Placement # 9 You can have 50 Skill words/phrases on your LinkedIn Profile. Use them all if you can so that you control what skill words are on your profile. Use these skill words/phrases in all 9 areas of your profile.
  • 13. Summary LinkedIn Skill Words/Phrases are an important part of your LinkedIn Profile. Use them deliberately and frequently throughout your LinkedIn Profile. This will help you be found by recruiters & hiring managers who are looking for people who have the skills you have.
