CONNOR & ERICA BROK
JANUARY 15, 2011
Connor and Erica Brok will be called to the Torah to become B’nai
Mitzvah on January 15, 2011. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania,
they moved to Ormond Beach in August, 2001 when Connor was
4 and Erica was 2.
They began their education in Florida at Temple Beth-El
preschool and then moved on to Pine Trail Elementary. They
currently attend Hinson Middle School, where they are both in
th th
advanced classes. Connor is in 8 grade and Erica is in 6 Grade.
They are very supportive of each other and were actually excited
about becoming B’nai Mitzvah together, even though it meant
Connor waited a year and Erica hurried through a year in order
for them to share this moment together.
Connor has played the piano and saxophone. He’s been involved
in many sports, including soccer, basketball, and baseball, but
currently plays tennis and flag football. In addition, he is very
active in Troop 468 of the Boy Scouts and recently received the
highest award in Scouting, the rank of Eagle. He’s learned and achieved much with his Troop, but one of his
highlights would be last summer when his group of Scouts completed a 50 mile hike on the Appalachian Trail in
less than 5 days. If that isn’t enough to keep the car pool rolling, he is a high achiever at Hinson and is a member
of the National Junior Honor Society and Math Counts. Connor still finds time to play video games, text, and hang
with friends. He also takes care of his dog, Goldie Grace.
Erica played the piano and is a member of the Hinson Chorus. She is interested in sports and socializing. She’s
played many sports, but loves volleyball and soccer the most. She plays on a competitive soccer team and a
competitive 3v3 soccer team. She was a member of the first all-girls flag football team in Ormond Beach this year.
She enjoyed her days at CMT, gymnastics, and hip hop, and expects to get back to those activities after January.
She is a bright young lady who is also a member of Math Counts. There have been many nights when she’s had at
least two activities, and yet, just like her brother, she still finds time to get on the computer to check Facebook or
text with her friends. A weekend without a sleepover is almost like a day without sunshine for her.
For their B’nai Mitzvah project, they are cataloguing the books and helping to set up the Temple Beth-El Library. In
addition, they challenged their family and friends to perform an hour of community service before joining them for
their celebration.
Connor and Erica have worked hard to prepare for their big day. We are so proud of their dedication and are
delighted that they chose to share this meaningful occasion with each other. We look forward to their future
endeavors.
With all our love,
Mom and Dad

As a result of our recent WRJ Sisterhood lecture on dreams from
Dr. Judy Provost, several people have indicated that they are
interested in joining and participating in a dream group at Temple

the group to eight people.
If this piques your interest, then please call or email with several
