    1. Comic Strip Vocabulary The Comic Strip Vocabulary builder invites students to learn new words/terms by composing their own comic strips. This method intends to create vivid mental images and visual word association for the reader. There are many advantages to using comic strips in the classroom. First, cartoons can depict everyday informal situations. Also, comic strips combine dialogue, context and meaning. Finally, cartoon strips are short and expose the learner to few new words at a time, thus focusing on one concept and context at a time. Materials • White paper / Letter or legal size recommended • Writing instrument /Colors, markers or color pencils recommended • Dictionary /If you do not provide the definition to the new vocabulary term • 20-30 minutes for activity . Getting started TIP • Students can work alone or in groups This activity can also be conducted • Introduce the students to a single or list of terms to incorporate in the comic strip electronically via this website: • Students should consider: http://www.readwritethink.org/materi Scene & Actions that occur als/comic/ Characters Present Landscape & Props Caption • Allow students ample time to create a comic that illustrates a vocabulary term • Share work with class • This process can be changed as necessary
