The Chopta Valley Trek The  trek,  in  the  Chopta Valley,  is  set  to  walk  one  through  picturesque  villages,  forests,  ‘Bugyals’ (meadows)  to  highlight  serene  locales  like  ‘Deoriyatal’,  ‘Tungnath’&  ‘Chandrashila’.  The  valley  is  home  to  thick  Rhododendron  forests,  the  rare  ‘Kastoori Hiran’ (musk  deer)  &  the  beautiful  ‘Monal’ (pheasant)  along  with  a  variety  of  other  wildlife. A lake, Deoriyatal faces a snow clad range with some  prominent  peaks  like  the  ‘KedarDome’ (6970m),  ‘Mahalaya’ (5970m), ‘Mandani Parbat’ (6190m) and the  mighty ‘Chaukhambha’ (7140m). While  Tungnath is  considered  as  the  Pinnacle  of  the  ‘Panch Kedar’,  the  Chandrashila Peak  at  4060m  is  indeed the pinnacle of this trek. ‐ 3 ‐

Itinerary – 5 Days / 4 Nights Day 1: New Delhi – Haridwar – Deoriyatal (by Train,  Travel Time: 4hrs) (by road – Distance: 190km /,  Travel Time: 7 ‐8 hrs Elevation: Deoriyatal – 2,438m/8,000ft) 1 Arrive at  Haridwar  station  by  4  a.m and  commence  our  drive  to  the  Chopta Valley  via  Rishikesh  – Devprayag – Srinagar – Rudraprayag – Ukhimath.  Lunch at  Sari Village followed by a  2.5  km trek to Deoriyatal, a lake with a splendid views. Overnight camp at Deoriyatal Day 2: Deoriyatal – Rohini Bugyal (Distance: 4 ‐5 km,  Trek Time: 3 ‐4 hrs Elevation: Rohini Bugyal – 2,600m/8,530ft) Trek from  Deoriyatal  through  thick forests  and  jungle  trails to Rohini Bugyal, a huge lush green meadow. Overnight camp at Rohini Bugyal ‐ 4 ‐

Itinerary – 5 Days / 4 Nights Day 3: Rohini Bugyal – Bhujgali Bugyal (Distance: 5‐6 km, Trek Time:4‐5 hrs;  Elevation: Bhujgali Bugyal: 3,000m/9,842ft) Trek from Rohini Bugyal to meet  a little  stream  from  where  we  start  uphill  towards Bhujgali Bugyal, the highest campsite during our trek. Overnight camp at Bhujgali Bugyal Day 4: Bhujgali Bugyal – Tungnath – Chandrashila (Distance: 3km / 1.5km,  Trek Time: 5 hrs Elevation: Tungnath: 3,680m/12,073ft, Chandrashila: 4,060m/13,320ft) Trek from Bhujghali Bugyal to Tungnath and then on to Chandrashila, the  highest  point  of  the  trek  with  breathtaking  views  of  the  surrounding  Himalayan peaks. Trek back to Bhujghali Bugyal for an overnight stay. Overnight camp at Bhujghali Bugyal Day 5: Bhujghali Bugyal – Chopta – Haridwar – Delhi   (Distance: 0.5 km / 220km,  Travel Time: 8 – 9 hrs. to Delhi by train, Travel Time: 5 hrs Elevation: Chopta – 2,900m/9,514ft ) Trek  downhill  to  Chopta to  commence  the  drive  to  Haridwar.  Board  the  train  from  Haridwar at 1800 hrs to reach Delhi by 2345hrs. ‐ 5 ‐
  5. Itinerary – 4 Days / 3 Nights Day 1: New Delhi – Haridwar – Chopta (by Train,  Travel Time: 4hrs) (by road – Distance: 220km /,  Travel Time: 7 ‐8 hrs Elevation: Chopta – 2,900m/9,514ft) Arrive at Haridwar station by 4 a.m and commence our drive  to  Chopta via  Rishikesh  – Devprayag – Srinagar – Rudraprayag – Ukhimath.  Lunch  at  Chopta followed  by  a  short hike to the campsite at Bhujghali Bugyal. Overnight camp at Bhujghali Bugyal Day 2: Chopta – Sari – Deoriyatal (Distance: 35 km/2.5 km(trek),  Travel Time: 3 ‐4 hrs Elevation: Deoriyatal – 2,438m/8,000ft) Drive  from  Chopta to  Sari.  From  Sari  hike  up  the  trail  to  Deoriya Tal.  A  surprise  delight,  this  little  ‘balcony’ has  some  splendid views.  Overnight camp at Bhujghali Bugyal ‐ 6 ‐

Itinerary – 4 Days / 3 Nights Day 3: Bhujgali Bugyal – Tungnath – Chandrashila (Distance: 3km / 1.5km,  Trek Time: 5 hrs Elevation: Tungnath: 3,680m/12,073ft, Chandrashila: 4,060m/13,320ft) Trek  from  Bhujghali Bugyal to  Tungnath and  then  on  to  Chandrashila,  the highest point of the trek with breathtaking views of the surrounding  Himalayan peaks. Trek back to Bhujghali Bugyal for an overnight stay.
