  3. 3. Introduction to suicides 3 • The word suicide is derives from a Latin word sue which means “oneself”, cide means “killing”. The basic definition of suicide given as from different theoretical prospective: • Suicide is intentional, self inflicted death. • Suicide is the process of purposely ending one’s own life Group 1 20/Dec/2013
  4. 4. History to Suicides 4 • The first person to debate the morality of suicide was the Greek philosopher, Socrates-over 400years B.C. The reason for his suicide was he had to face criticism but after his death his views were accepted. • Secretes believed that human beings were the property of gods, and did not have the right to take away something, namely life.
