    - at Maksimir on May 13, 1990 there was a fight between fans of Red Star and the fans of Dinamo , it was the unofficial start of the war between Serbia and Croatia, while the real war began 11 months later

  • 8. KRVAVI MOST (The Bloody Bridge)
    - this interesting name of the street comes
    from the events that happened on this place
    - during the medieval conflict of Kaptol and Gradec , people were fighting about a well on that street and a lot of blood was shed ( it is a street, not a bridge, but today it is called The Bloody Bridge).

    ZAGREB CATHEDRAL
    - the building started 1093 ( 11th century)
    - in 1242 the Cathedral was destroyed by the Tartas, but in the 15th century the building started again, but this time the Ottomans were using Cathedral for military purposes
    - in 1880 there was an earthquake that destroyed a big part of the Cathedral
    -The Cathedral is illustrating the1000 kuna bill

  • 10. Square of count Josip Jelacic
    - there is a statue of count Josip Jelacic, first placed on the square in 1866 ( but it was made in 1880), he looked north towards Hungary (when Croatia was at war with Hungary). Now he is facing south.
    - in 1947 the statue was removed, and in 1990 it was returned to the square. From 1947 to 1990 the square was called the Republic Square.

    - it is close to the Maksimir Stadium
    - it is one of the three ZOOs in Croatia
    - it is the oldest ZOO in southeast Europe
    - Zagreb Zoo was founded by Mijo Filipovic on 27thof June 1925
    - on opening day there were only 3 foxes and 3 owls.
