I highly recommend the ABN to anyone who is listening if they are not currently a member. It is a great service and you and your business will definitely benefit by joining.Just before I start, can you put up your hand if you don’t currently have any team members – staff etc?
  • Outsourcing or independent contracting has been around for a very long time. However, it is only in the last 3-5 years that the technology has progressed to such an extent that it makes it an affordable option for all businesses – from solo-preneurs to corporations they all can benefit in a range of ways. I hope to show you today how it works and why you should immediately consider it for you and your business.Quick Poll:Why are you interested in outsourcing? Choices – Shortage of skills, Too busy, Management issues, Can’t find and keep the right staff, other
  • Share your key indicators for your success. What have you written down in your business plan or strategic plan that once you reach you will feel that you are actually successful?
  • How often have you gone to the office or got to the end of your day and wished that you could turn back time? You know that you have had a busy day, but you haven’t achieved what you had hoped or what was on your to do list? Heck, sometimes you can’t even remember what you have been working on. (wait for response)Ask for a Poll: How often do you check your emails each day? Once, Twice, 3 times, more than 3 times, I open the email when I get a notification on my system.Little hint – when you feel that you are not achieving anything or overwhelmed, take an afternoon away from the office and start planning. Write a list of all the things that needs to be done, but you don’t have to do them – yes, that’s right. Write a “Not to do List”Write a list of the things you would like to achieve if you had the resources. (you know the things that are in your business plan with your name on them)Write a list of the things that need improvementDo some performance reviews with your existing team and find out what they are working well on and what are causing problems.Remove yourself as a bottle neck.
  • Brainstorm all the activities you currently do that you would like someone else to do.Then compile a list of all the core business you aren’t getting to or the projects that have been on the backburner.
  • Doing performance reviews and asking your team members to identify the areas they struggle with Then introducing a virtual assistant as an added team member to help them when they need it makes the prospect less threatening to individual team members.Asking the team member to document an induction process and the VA to test it creates a documented induction and training system for your business.
  • You bring in more detail in your job description and it covers how you and your team like to work and communicate. What systems you use and when. How you deal with urgent matters or emergencies, who your Class A clients are.You now have:
  • If you have written the job description well you can reiterate the sections in the induction process.Important not to micro-manage as you won’t feel the benefit.Test the new team member on a particular activitiy to assess where their strengths or weaknesses are.
  • Delegating is an Art that is worth mastering. It is about providing clear instructions and advising on the level of their authority or autonomy to act. It is also about negotiating deadlines and performance.Be very clear on their boundaries. $ value of any promisesClass A clientsYour valuesWhen they need to consult (before acting
  • Managing staff can be one of the most time-consuming aspects of running your business but if you prepare well, induct team members to be part of your vision and mission, core values and goals and objectives the amount of time required to manage off-site staff is greatly reduced.
