BEFORE the remodel, the small Kitchen with its 8’ ceilings, was closed off from the adjacent living area. The orientation of the sink and windows did not take advantage of the wonderful views of Silicon Valley. The complex open-beam redwood vaulted ceiling in the living area is a focal point in this ranch-style home.

AFTER the remodel the vaulted ceiling continues through the Kitchen and windows are oriented to the view.

Custom designed Lyptus cabinets, stainless steel accents and quartz stone counters with glass backsplash lend a warm updated style to the Kitchen. All lighting is ‘high efficacy’ utilizing LED and fluorescent fixtures.

The Kirei wall panel behind the cook top and hood lightens the effect of the dark Lyptus cabinets. Kirei is a sustainable engineered wood product made from sorghum.

The Laundry/Mud Room has Lyptus/Kirei cabinets and a quartz stone countertop echoing the adjacent Kitchen. A frosted glass pocket door separates the two rooms, but this space is left open to view most of the time.
