To improve the student’s listening comprehension in authentic academic and social settings. </li></ul><ul><li>II. To improve the student’s note-taking, summarizing, and synthesizing skills. </li></ul><ul><li>III. To improve the student’s oral expression for academic and social purposes. </li></ul><ul><li>IV. To increase the student’s vocabulary and strategies for continued growth. </li></ul><ul><li>V. To increase the student’s confidence and intelligibility when speaking in public. </li></ul><ul><li>VI. To expose the student to an array of college resources, both human and electronic. </li></ul><ul><li>VII. To expose the student to an array of college content, vocabulary, and concepts. </li></ul><ul><li>VIII. To familiarize the student with North American academic culture and expectations. </li></ul>
