  2. 2. Buddhism – Po Lin Monastery <ul><li>Monks live in monasteries. </li></ul><ul><li>Monasteries are open to the public and the monks do not live apart from ordinary people. </li></ul><ul><li>People and monks pray in the shrine room, monks also have meetings there. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>Buddhists go there to worship and study. </li></ul>What are Monasteries used for?
  4. 4. <ul><li>Po Lin Monastery is on Lantau Island, next to the Big Buddha and People and monks pray in the shrine room, monks also have meetings there. </li></ul><ul><li>This leads to the Ngong Ping Village. It was founded in 1906 by three monks. </li></ul>The Monastery

  10. 10. Traditions of a Synagogue <ul><li>Faces direction of Jerusalem. </li></ul><ul><li>Inside is a copy of the Torah and the Ten Commandments. </li></ul><ul><li>Beside or above the Ark is a candlestick called the Menorah. </li></ul>
