  • 1. How to create a Google Alert
  • 2. Google Alerts are a hugely useful feature of Google, where you can receive an email alert of the latest relevant Google results of a certain keyword.
  • 3. Why set up an Alert? Set up Google Alerts about your industry and expertise to keep up to date on breaking information. I use these alerts to make sure I am the first to know new developments in my field. I also use Google Alerts for Clients! It is a quick and easy way to stay updated on a clients industry and interests.
  • 4. To to set up a Google alert, start by going to…
  • 5. A blank alert first looks like this. You can make multiple, so choose a “Search query” or keyword that is specific enough to give you useful information.
  • 6. After you have selected your keyword, you can narrow your results to the type of information you wish to receive.
  • 7. Select “How Often” you would like to receive updates, as they can come once a day, or once a week. Also select ‘How many”, I suggest choosing “Only the best results”. Lastly select the email which you want to receive the update.
  • 8. When you receive an Google alert to you inbox, it looks like this!
