The Urban Public Policy Fellowship (UPPF)program, a new program designed toexpose historically underrepresentedminority undergraduate students at theUniversity of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) tokey public policy issues.
UPPF Fellows were selected through ahighly competitive process thatconsidered grade point average, historyof engagement, and leadershipexperience.
UPPF Fellows attended weekly seminarsthroughout the spring semester.Seminars included policy issues, projectmanagement, research, governmentissues and education budget information.
UPPF Fellows presented Public PolicyPosters at the IALHEA ResearchConference, April 5, 2013.
UPPF Fellows were also assigned aninternship designed to expose him or herto the theory and practice of publicpolicy-making, advocacy, communitydevelopment, and service provision.
The UPPF program is administered throughthe Institute for Policy and CivicEngagement (IPCE), in partnership withthe Latin American Recruitment andEducational Services Program (LARES)and the African-American AcademicNetwork (AAAN).
