  3. 3. About St. Patricks Day• St. Patrick’s Day is a cultural and religious holiday that takes place each year on 17 March. It commemorates Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland.• It’s also celebrated in Great Britain, Canada, the United States, Australia and New Zealand among others.• This festivity lasts for 5 days.
  4. 4. • The shamrock: Three is Irelands magic number and the three petals that make up the shamrock are supposed to bring good luck. The three leaves also represent the Trinity in the Christian religion.• The leprechauns: men who live alone in the forest, spending all of their time making shoes and guarding their treasures.
  5. 5. St. Patricks Day Celebration• Most people, whether they are Irish or not, wear green on this day. One of the Irish traditions is to pinch anyone who is not wearing green on St. Patricks Day.
  6. 6. Why green?• Green is one of the colors in Ireland’s tri-color flag.• The color of the landscape.• Green is also the color of spring and the shamrock.
