Freelance Services: Good Presentation Design

  1. 1. Freelance Services: Good Presentation Design Interview with a Freelancer
  2. 2. What are the most important considerations an employer should have when planning these types of projects? • Is a contractor really going to add value to the presentation? • Is the contractor really capable of understanding the business, its values, and its customers? • Does the contractor have the required level of professionalism and communication skills to do the job well?
  3. 3. What are some guidelines and/or best practices that will ensure project success? • Sharing clear expectations and guidelines will help make it easier for both the client and the contractor to complete the work efficiently. • Facts/information is mostly given by the client as part of the content for the presentation. • The designer creates some of the images to present the facts more visually and some images to give an appropriate audience. • Otherwise, they can also collect royalty-free images from the internet if the client agrees.
  4. 4. What are common milestones or project phases in this area of outsourced work? • Stage 1- de-briefing: the client and contractor arrive at the same level of understanding regarding the expectations (quality, timelines, and any set boundaries) • Stage 2- working on the first draft and presenting it to client • Stage 3- clients’ feedback and the contractor revising his work • Stage 4- closing the work after making all necessary adjustments demanded by the client
  5. 5. What are three fundamental errors that can result in project failure on the employer’s behalf? • A client must not compromise on quality to save costs • Client must not be vague about expectations • Most clients do not have the necessary images. They depend on the contractor to come up with these. And I think it is better for the contractor to source it. Because it gives them a lot more room for creativity and can bring fresh perspective into the work.
  6. 6. What are three fundamental errors that can result in project failure on the freelancer’s behalf? • In order to build a good record, a contractor must not over promise. • Unclear communication with the client will definitely cause problems. • Freelancers should specifically be aware about what formats the client wants the output to be in.
  7. 7. What project related details should an employer provide to successfully complete the project? • He must provide the kind of quality that he is expecting, how much time is available for the work to be completed, to whom the presentation is being designed for, and what the personality is of the presenter/company.
  8. 8. An employer should not post a project in this area if he has not considered what three fundamental questions? • Is a contractor really going to add value to the presentation? • Is the contractor really capable of understanding the business, its values and its customers? • Does the contractor have the required level of professionalism and communication skills to do the job well?
