For the World Tourism Organisation (WTO)the tourism is: "It
comprises the activities of persons travelling to and staying in
places outside their usual environment for not more than one
consecutive year for leisure, business and other purposes,
different from the exercise of an activity remunerated from
within the place visited”.
! This has led to a new type of niche tourism which is growing
steadily. The reasons for this steady growth are due to the
high cost of care in the wealthy areas of the world, long
waiting lists, the appearance of low cost airlines and favorable
! In fact, it is motivated by the need to find medium priced
quality care for certain types of treatment. Dental care is the
most common but the trend includes other kinds of surgery
even of a rather complex nature.
2010 - The average value of transactions conducted using payment cards in the
EU declined. Growth in consumer spending slowed. Spending in the EU in the
third quarter of 2010 increased by 1.2 percent.
The largest drop was recorded in expenditure problems in Greece, Ireland….
