Getting Started
Sign up for an account on YouTube

Getting Started
Linking your YouTube and Google Accounts cannot be undone or changed later.
Be careful linking your accounts if you are setting up a YouTube account for your business.

Getting Started - Search
Search in YouTube can take you down a rabbit hole into honey badger, high school fights and pet videos.
If you’re searching for something specific, use more keywords in search to refine your results.

Getting Started – Your Account
Clicking on your username opens a drop-down menu to access your account.
Your channel on YouTube is your profile – you can customize your settings, design and information like any other profile.

Getting Started - Upload
Clicking on Upload will take you to the Video File Upload page
You can upload more than one file at a time by dragging and dropping or clicking “Upload Video” and holding Ctrl + selecting videos from your drive.

Uploading Video
As your video uploads, enter as much information as you want into the fields, including:
Tags keywords for your video/presentation
Title is the public name for your video
Description is visible under your video when viewers watch it
Category is the best-fitting category for your video
You can edit this information and choose a still-frame from your video as the thumbnail later.

Managing Video
Clicking on your username will open a drop-down menu that reveals the link “Videos.”
Clicking on “Videos” will reveal the dashboard where you manage and edit your uploads within YouTube.

Once in your dashboard, click “Edit” to manage a video’s description, tags, title or category as well as choose a thumbnail for your video.
This is also where you can see your video’s views and likes.

Editing Video
Once able to edit the video, you can choose a descriptive title, smart description and pick keywords related to your video and your business as tags.
At the bottom of the fields, you’ll see where you can select the category for your video. (e.g. Comedy or People & Blogs)
Always be sure to save your changes as you go.

Choose a thumbnail for your video that will capture attention and accurately display the theme of your content.

Get Creative with YouTube
Interview an expert with Skype and record the conversation with permission.
Upload recordings of presentations you’ve given.
Record a creative brainstorming meeting to share a glimpse into your culture.

Get Technical with YouTube
Upload audio/caption files for the hearing impaired.
Swap audio files for your video.
Add annotations to be displayed while your video plays.

Get Smart with YouTube
YouTube alone typically won’t get you the views you’re looking for.
Integrate YouTube video with other social networks.
Comedy doesn’t work for everyone. Instead, choose video that represents your message, your company or you personally accurately and clearly.
