  • 2. Perception is reality. Your business already has a brand, whether you’re aware of it or not. Your business is speaking to your customers all the time.
  • 3. But that means… … your opinion of your business might not always match up to how a customer is perceiving you. It all depends on the words you’re choosing.
  • 4. Style Guides Style Guides usually consist of 2 things, both of which will take your business to the next level.
  • 5. 1. Tone of voice guidelines. Tone of voice guidelines dictate how you speak to your customers. Are you professional and formal? Or slick and chatty? Somewhere in between?
  • 6. There’s no right or wrong answer, but it needs to be decided so that:  your words work effectively.  your words deliver what your business needs.
  • 7. Our role. We’ll work with you to understand your business and what you want your brand to achieve. We’ll also put ourselves in your customers’ shoes and work out what they need to hear.
  • 8. 2. House Style. Style Guides also comprise of house style rules. These document your stance on specific things, such as punctuation and industry jargon. For example…
  • 9. Do you capitalise your headings? Do you write out numbers or use numerals? Are there any industry terms that are tricky to spell, or ones that you’re keen to avoid?
  • 10. The list goes on. These documents achieve many things, but the most important thing it nails is…

  • 12. In summary. Style Guides show that you care about your brand and that you care about your customers. They also show that you’ve thought about your business. And that you’re professional, attentive and meticulous.
