    • Jared Golberg Community Marketing Manager 5 th Element Events Twitter: @Jaredgolberg SOCIAL MEDIA BOOT CAMP The Power of Face to Face Community! Interact, Engage & Inspire
    • 3 questions on how you connect with prospects!
      • How many of you still cold call and try to make meetings?
      • How many of you use email for the first initial contact or conversation?
      • How many of you have found a way to use Social Media platforms to make meetings and connect with the right people beneficial to your business?
      • Cold calling is kryptonite. I absolutely hate cold calling people. It is the most awkward situation!
      • Let’s be honest, in order to become a reliable resourceful connector, there has to be a ‘Face to Face’ connection to build trust.
The cold call fear!! Must overcome! #CallFail
    • Had to find a new way to connect, interact, engage and inspire.
    • What’s your pleasure? Lots of choices! We are in a very different age of connectivity with the rapid growth of digital tools available everyday. We have taken the global technological village and shrunk it literally into digital communities!
    • My choices for connectivity!
    • Become a thought leader! Create your worth (Currency) online choosing the right community and engaging in conversation! We all know the saying “everyone will have their 15 minutes of fame” through Social Media “everyone has the ability to be famous to 15 people! Find your worth! Your currency!
    • 7 ways to become a thought leader!
      • Listen to what your community is saying
      • Reach out to those who have already become leaders
      • Find your angle and deliver meaningful posts
      • Cross your thoughts on multiple platforms (Focus Your Hub)
      • Direct posts to specific people you have connected with
      • Don’t just repost or Retweet (RT) – Make a twist
      • Always stay ahead of the game
    • You are ready to engage! Don’t get stuck behind your desk, or glued to your couch with your laptop on your knees! Make the connection, introduce yourself, engage and book that meeting! HOW?
    • How can I make a meeting? As an event designer and marketing guy, I take these tools and apply them with one question in mind -  How can I use these tools to create live interaction?
    • Personalize your messages to your connections interests! Personable digital notes and messaging! Face to face! @saulcolt – Personification of digital connection! Leaves video messages in your inbox via Facebook and links to video messages via Twitter to his fans!
    • 7 tips to help make that meeting! Face to Face!
      • Engrain yourself in a like minded community (#eventprofs)
      • When making a connection with someone, associate a common interest. It's almost like dating! The ice needs breaking! (Music, events, photography, news)
      • 3. Message, message, message (DM, inbox, comment)
      • Engage new connections within your community
      • Grow the connection through transparency
      • Exchange contact information for off platform convo.
      • Make the call and keep the same persona you had online. Let your personality shine through!
    • Now you’re using the PHONE! No fear! HEY! Jon! How was the ‘ Pearl Jam’ concert? Jenn, how was your presentation yesterday? I know were excited! Make sure your connection feels special!
    • NOTE *BBM is not face to face! Don’t lose the ‘Face to Face’ connection! BMM, Ping!, MSN, AIM and iChat are fast becoming social trends that don’t help the relationship grow! What not to do! Trust me!
    • Compliment your online worth with other outlets! 1. Tweetchats are a great way to engage your community in live Twitter conversations (#eventprofs via ready2spark) 2. Networking events happen everyday in Toronto – Third Tuesdays, Startup Drinks, Sproutup, TwestivalTO, HOHOTO and more… 3. Meetup.com & Eventbrite are sites you can join to find out where your like minded connectors are meeting 4. Start your own networking events to compliment your companies brand. 5. Connect with websites and journalists to share your worth in stories online and in print (Meetingscanada.com)
    • I leave you with this! Treat your network as family and friends (support system) Don’t forget to LISTEN! Talking about yourself too much is annoying Interact, engage and inspire! Listen!
