Emigration to Spain, Learn Spanish in La Herradura

  1. 1. Emigration to Spain The way to a successful start! Starting a new life in a foreign country is a major step for anyone. It requires some good preparation, especially if you are making the ‘big move’ with children. Both our Centers in Spain and Uruguay offer you special courses and workshops to help you prepare your family for this new life in Spain or another Spanish speaking country. The program consists of two parts; a preparing Spanish language course, and supporting workshops. Centro de Enseñanza de Español La Herradura, Spain La Herradura, a small paradise in the Costa Tropical. This particularly beautiful and very Spanish village is situated on the south coast of Spain, settled between the small towns Nerja and Almuñecar. Not spoilt by mass tourism, it offers you the possibility to get in touch with real Spanish life. Situated in a nice bay, with a long beautiful beach it has everything to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. The many typically Spanish Tapasbars and good restaurants, supermarkets, shops and the market in the centre where you can find all the fresh products daily until 2 pm, activities in a sports centre and a cinema. The climate is very comfortable with temperatures in January from 18/22 degrees centigrade and around 28/30 degrees in July and August.
  2. 2. Language course: You can start with the courses every Monday of the year, at every level. You can choose between group and private lessons, or a combination of those two. The groups consist of a maximum of 6 to 8 people, and for children and adolescents there will be different groups. During the lessons there is an extended focus on the way of life in Spain, and the culture and history. Next to the necessary grammar we put a lot of emphasis on the conversation aspect during a greater part of the lessons. We also practice the language outside the school, for example during a trip to a typical Spanish Market. Children will not just be prepared for the Spanish school system, but will also be introduced to the Spanish culture. They will, for example, learn about the Spanish kitchen, and learn the most important children’s songs so they will right away find their way around and adapt at the Spanish school.
  3. 3. Workshops: During these special workshops we will focus on several tailor-made subjects for example:  Buying or renting a house in Spain (mortgage)  What do I need to be allowed to work in Spain, or to start a business  Importing a vehicle, the Spanish ITV, which insurances and taxed do I need to pay  How banks operate  Health (doctors, emergency , hospitals, specialists, dentists…)  Taxes  benefits During your stay you will be completely immersed in the Spanish culture. Next to the Spanish courses we also frequently organize entertaining and educational activities, like a ‘Ruta de Tapas’, Paëlla on the beach, hikes in the area, Spanish cooking sessions etc. We can also help you organize for example dancing lessons (Flamenco or Salsa), a trip to a wine or olive farms or all kinds of sporting activities (sailing, diving, kayaking, horseback riding, cycling, paragliding etc.) You can go on excursions to several beautiful cities surrounding La Herradura (Granada with its impressive Alhambra, Malaga, Nerja, Almuñecar, Frigiliana and Competa). You can also visit the many beautiful nature spots such as the Alpujarras with the many little picturesque villages, the Sierra Nevada, that offers good ski opportunities during the winter period and locations like Haza del Lino, Sierras del Chaparral, los Guajares, Rio Verde, La Junta de los Rios, Peña Escrita, Rio Chillar en Los Cahorros.
  4. 4. Accommodation: We can help you find suitable accommodation during your stay in La Herradura. Possibilities are staying in a house, apartment, hotel, pension, camping or with a local Spanish family. All you have to do is inform us about your wishes, and we will find it for you. Sisterschool: If you decide to stay for a longer period of time in La Herradura, we offer the possibility to follow courses at our sister school situated in the centre of Granada, who we closely work with. There they will continue the lessons in the same manner.
