  3. 3. About US<br />Astronomy and Space Sciences is our Passion and Work<br />The group started its journey in the year 2001. SPACE group is now present in major metropolitan cities of India like Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad etc. <br />It is the largest non-government employer in this sector.<br />From being educators in science, we have moved on to being researchers, developers and marketers of science based products and servicesand promote concepts like Centre for Excellence in institutions and Astro Tourism.<br />The journey till now has been enthralling and learning, but what really fires us, at SPACE, is the potential we see in the future. <br />

There is ever increasing possibility of alien life being found and ambitious projects of colonizing the universe have already begun. </li></li></ul><li>Importance of Astronomy in Day to Day Life<br />We use astronomy and its applications every day.<br />For example<br /> Concept of Time, Directions, Seasons<br /> Festivals in India follow the Lunar Calendar like Diwali, Holi, Id <br /> Concept of Navigation, Satellites, Disaster Management etc.<br />

Asteroids discovered by Indian School students for the first time, students measure the circumference of the Earth, students discover the actual IST line near Allahabad, India’s first Eclipse Flight and Cruise a runaway success, many students meet Sunita Williams in India, International Conference by SPACE brings academic celebrities to India, Heliodyssey sets a new precedent for eclipse chasers….. Astronomy and Space Science brought to School Students, innovatively.<br />

Centre for Excellence<br />We have formed a Workable, Effective and Self Sustaining education model that will make it possible for schools to do it.<br />For schools who are looking to have a program that is dynamic, customizable, flexible & catering to the complete school<br />Changing the way astronomy and space sciences are taught at the school level<br />We work closely with the school as a consultant, as a partner<br />Only 50 schools all over India will come together for the year 2011-12, to become a part of this global effort. <br />
  20. 20. The Centre will act as a Resource cum Guide Centre which will implement various initiatives for the school. It will work closely through the teacher with SPACE, all through the year. <br />The Teacher, an Astronomy & Space Science Educator will be recruited in the school; this teacher can be an existing teacher or a new recruit in the school, hired by the school as per its policies. <br />He/ She would be exclusively working for this Centre, the Training of this teacher would be done by SPACE. This teacher will be the implementer and nodal point of various programs being planned. He/she will be working under the guidance and management of SPACE. The KRAs, targets and responsibilities will be set and monitored by SPACE, in conjunction with the school management.<br />
