  6. 6. Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ayatollah As-Sayyid Ruhollah Mostafavi Musavi Khomeini <br />

Grand Ayatollah Sayyed meaning “Grand Great Sign of God Minister” but referred to as Khomeini or in Iran officially known as Imam Khomeini. <br />He is most famous for his political role but was also a great religious figure in Iran. Khomeini was the leader of the revolution and strongly anti-American. <br />

  9. 9. Is the Shah of Iran and Persia, who was a friend to the American people. Reining rule over Iran from 16 September 1941 until his overthrow by the Iranian Revolution on 11 February 1979. <br />

  11. 11. Hassan Pakravan was head of SAVAK until he ordered the assassination of Prime Minister Hassan Ali Mansur on January 21, 1965. Operation Ajax. <br />

  13. 13. Tehran <br />The city of Tehran in 1979 around late January – early February held a great demonstration consisting of several million Iranians, Black Friday, however this is not the only historical event to go down in Tehran to do with the Iranian Revolution. <br />

  15. 15. 52 Americans were held hostage for 444 days from November 4, 1979 to January 20, 1981, after a group of Islamist students and militants took over the American Embassy in support of the Iranian Revolution.<br />After the Islamic failed to negotiate the release of the captured Americans, the US commenced a rescue (Operation Eagle Claw) attempt, consisting of the destruction of two aircraft and the deaths of eight American servicemen and one Iranian civilian as the mission was a failure. <br />
