For her entrepreneurial skills and achievements Ekta Kapoor was awarded with ´Ernst Young (EY) Startup Entrepreneur Of The Yearµ award in 2001. She was also awarded with the 6th Indian Telly awards 2006 and also Hall of Fame awards for having contributed colossally to the Indian TV industry. Named as Young global leader 2006 by an affiliate of the Economic Forum Most Promising Entrepreneur 2009 by the Indo ² American Society. She was chosen as the Head of the Confederation of Indian Industries, CII.
  16. 16. Conclusion The modern trend shows that women join hands in enhancing the income of the family. In turn it also changes their personality and living standards. In India the self-employed women account for only 5.2% of the self-employment persons in the countries. Majority of them are engaged in the recognized sector like agriculture, handicrafts, handlooms and cottage based industries. The role of Women entrepreneur in economic development is inevitable. Now-a-days women enter not only in selected professions but also in professions like trade, industry, engineering and media to a very large extent. Women are also willing to take up business and contribute to the Nation's growth. There role is also being recognized and steps are being taken to promote women entrepreneurship. Resurgence of entrepreneurship is the need of the hour. Entrepreneurs like EKTA KAPOOR are not just an inspiration but also set an example of an Independent Indian woman willing to take challenges Head On and set Benchmarks. Undoubtedly and very rightly tagged as the ´Queen of Indian TVµ, more specifically Indian Saas-Bahus.
