3. Objectives
Giving information about the Eclipse Java IDE.
Introduction
Usually textbooks on Java start from the command line. It is not a waste of
time. However sooner or later you will find yourself using an IDE, a much
modern way to interact with programs’ code.
So way you should not start using it from the beginning ?

4. However
Do not forget to know something about Java. This post can be helpful to find
some resources:
http://abouthydrology.blogspot.it/2012/12/a-little-java-library-for-
beginners.html
Either the book by Bruce Eckel and the book by David J. Eck (see in the
post) are a good starting point. I will refer more frequently to the latter book.
So probably you have to read it first (at least the first general chapters).

5. Eclipse
Just look at:
I let Vogel do the job
http://www.vogella.com/eclipseide.html
There you can find whatever you need to install it, and instructions to use it. For
beginners just reading the first three chapters is sufficient.
BTW: Vogel gives also some Java Tutorial ... here:

7. For the moment
I do not talk about other tools, in random order:
•Git (and repositories)
•Ant
•Maven
Reason is that, at the moment, I do not know them either ! But, get prepared to
them.
