Slide Share Lead Generation - FAQs & Best Practises - Presentation Transcript
Best practices for lead collection with LeadShare
* Create presentations / documents that are about your business and that people will
want to download. Upload any whitepapers that you have written about your
business.
* Keep it short and sweet! 10 slides or less (or 4 pages or less) is the recommended
length. But it really depends on your design / writing skills. There are great
presentations that are longer.
* Think about the terms you want to rank for, and use those terms in your document
title. Tag it with appropriate keywords. Use them in the text of the document /
presentation.
* Have a call to action: If you are selling a service / or product, don’t lead with it.
Start by talking about the domain generally. Then introduce your product. Finally end
with a strong call to action (e.g. "To start your free trial, click here").
* The Title slide is the most important slide. It's what draws people in to view the rest
of the show. Keep it short and to the point. Adding an image is ALWAYS a good
idea. An example of a slide with a great title is Employee First, Customer Second
* SlideShare is a visual medium, so use images in your presentation. Use text
sparingly: too much text on a single slide can seem boring. Some people use lots of
images / photos throughout the presentation (photos of people are especially
effective). Here's an example of an effective visual presentation.
* If there's data to be presented, trying doing it creatively. See some examples here:
* Presentation length: Attention drops off at every slide. The longer your presentation
is, the more people will drop off. Grab attention and hold it with every slide, and edit
your slides carefully.
* A style: Find a style/template and stick to it. Changes in style can be visually
distracting. In some cases breaking out of your template makes sense but you
shouldn't do this every other slide.
LeadShare FAQs
* How does the SlideShare Leads program work?
You can collect leads through your presentations / documents on SlideShare. you turn
"Leads" on, there will be two ways that you will start hearing form people who want
to learn more.
o When someone visits your slideshow, they will see the "Contact Me" option.
They can fill that out if they want to learn more
o When someone tried to download the original powerpoint / pdf file, they will
be asked to fill out a short contact form.
* How can I check the leads I collect on SlideShare?
When you go to the SlideShare business page, you will see a link to "Check Current
Campaigns". Go inside a specific campaign and view the leads for that. You will also
receive an email everytime you receive a lead.
* Who is the SlideShare leads program for?
Our Leads program is for anyone who wants to reach customers through
presentations / documents. If you have a blog where you try to reach potential
customers, or a podcast, or whitepapers, then SlideShare is once more place to reach
customers.
* Do I need to upload presentations before I can collect leads?
Yes you do! The better your presentations, the more people will view them, and the
more leads you will collect. If your presentations have very few views, you are less
likely to collect leads from them.
* How is contact information collected for users?
Contact information is collected when users try to download your
presentation/document, and when they fill out your "contact me" form.
* What are leads? How can my business benefit by collecting leads?
Leads are references to future customers. It's contact information for a prospective
customer, or someone who is interested in what you are doing and who might be
interested in learning more / be motivated to buy the product/service you are offering.
* How qualified are the leads I can get with SlideShare?
Leads that you collect with SlideShare are extremely qualified. They are people who
are interested in your content, and are from the geographic region that you are
targeting.
* What kind of contact information can I collect?
You can collect names, email addresses, mailing addresses, and phone numbers. We
suggest asking for as little information as possible. Asking for more information
decreases your chance of someone filling out the form.
* How does the payment system for LeadShare work?
Its simple. You deposit money ($) in advance. You can use either a credit card or
PayPal to deposit $ into your account. Once you put in $, you get credits in your
account ($1 = 1 credit).
Once there is $ in your account, please setup a LeadShare campaign. If you had
already setup a campaign, then it will go live ONLY after there is enough $ for a
single transaction (i.e., one lead with LeadShare).
The money gets withdrawn from your account as you get collect leads. When the
money runs out, LeadShare campaigns go on till you get 10 more leads. These are
"unpaid leads" in your account. You can see them, but you cannot see details till you
add more money to your account.
* How much does all this cost?
The cost of one lead on SlideShare can range from $1 (when you just ask for name
and email address, no geographic targeting), to $22 (email address, geo targeting,
address, phone number, Content Blocking and 5 custom questions).
You can decide what type of leads you are interested in capturing. Remember that
asking more questions reduces the number of people who complete lead form. These
options will increase the cost of leads on SlideShare.
o $1 : Name and Email address
o + $2 : Geographical targeting
o + $2 : Phone number
o + $2 : Address
o + $2 : Each Custom Question (upto 5 custom questions allowed)
o + $5 : Content blocking (viewers need to complete lead form to view content)
* Can I use word docs or pdfs to collect leads?
Yes, any document that can be uploaded to SlideShare can be used to collect leads.
* How many leads can I collect per day?
There is no limit imposed by SlideShare. It really depends on how good your
presentations / documents are at attracting people to "Learn More" or download.
However, you can set a limit for the amount of money you want to spend per day
when you create a lead-generating campaign. In practical terms, the limit is usually
determined by how many views your presentation gets, and what percentage of
viewers try to download your file or fill out your "contact me" form.
* What can I do to get more leads?
The most important thing to do is to upload a good collection of high-quality
documents that will appeal to your potential customers. Providing a compelling offer
in your "contact me" form is also extremely important. Remember that users need an
incentive to fill out the form. Offering a free e-book, a price quote, an opportunity for
a lunch meeting, or something else that will be perceived as valuable is likely to be
much more effective than simply saying "Contact Me".
* What kind of leads can I capture with SlideShare?
SlideShare gives visitors a way to get in touch with you. Your lead form contains a
Call to Action (which you can customize).
* How qualified can my leads be?
Your leads can be qualified through questions you can add to the form. Lead forms
can range from just asking for email address, to asking for address, phone number,
and upto 5 custom questions. This is entirely upto you.
* How can I capture more leads with LeadShare?
The best way to do that is to have engaging content and calls to action to that users
find interesting. Apart form that there are several ways to increase velocity of
capturing leads.
o Upload more content
o Make sure your lead form is appearing on Download
o Turn on the "Block Content" option on leads (use this with care).
o Reduce the number of questions in the lead form.
* How does the "Content Blocking" option work?
If you enable the "Content Blocking" option, people will not be able to view the
complete document unless they complete the lead form. This increases the number of
leads you can capture, however, it annoys some users. We suggest using this option
with care.
* How can I capture qualified leads with LeadShare?
On SlideShare there are three ways you can qualify your users
o Through your content: Only people who are interested in your content will
complete lead form
o Geo qualification: You can decide what locations you want to capture leads
from
o Question qualification: You can ask for more information (address, phone
number) and upto 5 custom questions to qualify leads.
o Finally, you can use AdShare to drive more clicks to your page. Some of
those clicks might convert to leads
* What are community norms for capturing leads?
At SlideShare, the leads product has been carefully designed to balance the needs of
the business owner (who is capturing leads) to the viewer (who is reading document
and might fill out form). While the business owner wants to capture qualified leads,
the viewer wants to view the document and complete form if it is interesting. We ask
you to always keep the end viewer and their interests in mind.
o Please do not upload documents with little or no content (for example, a 1
page document about your business with hardly any content). We discourage such
crass commercialism, and you might be disqualified from the lead program.
o Please give some value to the viewer. Help them learn something, understand
something. Such content is likely to bring in more leads than overly commercial
content.
o Please ask only questions that you need to. More questions make the form a
burden for the user.
* Why does the price for leads increasing with asking more questions?
LeadShare is designed to balance the needs of the business owner (who wants leads)
to the viewer who wants to view the presentation or document and get in touch if
interested.
More questions in the lead form increase the time it takes to complete form. Research
has shown that users don't like long forms. Your completion rates also decrease with
longer forms.
Price of leads goes up as more questions are asked to keep viewer interest in mind.
* Why does the price for leads increase with Content Blocking?
SlideShare is a community of free content. While content blocking is effective for
lead capture, business owners should use Content Blocking with care.
