  2. 2. Six Sigma Green Belt Training Workshop 6σ (Using SigmaXL software) Duration: 5 days Who is a Six Sigma Green Belt? Green Belts play a significant role within a Six Sigma infrastructure and culture. Their primary roles are critical in many ways. Green Belts provide value within the organization’s Six Sigma initiative in a variety of ways. • Leading Six Sigma projects of and making process improvements as a part of their overall job • Deploying their organization’s Six Sigma program • Participating as a key team member and partner in Black Belt projects • Helping to direct and collect data and conduct experiments for improvement projects • Working with process owners to ensure project gains are sustained • Facilitating the sharing of best practices throughout the organization Who should attend the training? This 5-day training workshop is designed for engineers and managers who desire to bring in process improvements and/or wish to support Six Sigma black belts. Those aspiring to get certified by American Society for Quality (ASQ) as Six Sigma Green Belts (CSSGB) will also be benefited as the course is designed based on the ASQ CSSGB Body of Knowledge. Benefits of the training: After attending the workshop, the participants will be able to understand and apply Six Sigma tools to make process improvements. Each participant is expected to identify a Six Sigma green belt project before attending the course. Guidelines for project selection will be provided to registered participants. This 5-day training workshop organized by Institute of Quality and Reliability (IQR) includes sufficient hands on exercises using special software tool namely SigmaXL. About 30% time in the workshop would be dedicated to the application exercises. The workshop is also aimed at preparing the participants for taking Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB) examination offered by American Society of Quality (ASQ). More details are available on web site of ASQ http://www.asq.org/. Taking certification exam is optional and not a mandatory requirement of this 5-day course. ASQ certification fees are not included in the course fees. A test of comprehension will be conducted at the end of training to assess effectiveness of training. Successful candidates will get certificate of passing. Others will get certificate of training completion. Participants can get certified as Six Sigma Green Belts after submitting an evidence of completion of at least one Six Sigma project.   3. 3. Structure of Green Belt training workshop: Five-day training agenda focuses on learning the concepts and immediately applying these to the projects selected by the participants. Class exercises are designed specifically to enable retention and application to the projects. Each participant is expected and encouraged to apply the concepts using Six Sigma tools and SigmaXL. (More information is available at http://www.sigmaxl.com/) software. This software facilitates effective use/application of Six Sigma statistical tools enabling the belts spend more time focusing on implementing process improvements. Participants need to bring laptop computers with Microsoft Excel software. (Operating system: Microsoft Windows® XP or higher, Microsoft Excel version: Excel 2003 or higher) Course Contents: Day 1: • Introduction: History, Evolution and Value of Six Sigma • Basic Concepts: Rolled Throughput Yield, DPU, DPMO • Define: Selection and defining Six Sigma Projects • Define: Process Mapping, FMEA and Management and Planning Tools • Measure: Cause and Effects Matrix Day 2: • Measure: Basic Probability and Statistics, • Measure: Measurement Systems Analysis, • Measure: Process Capability, Day 3: • Analyze: Multi Vari Study and Analysis • Analyze: Confidence Intervals • Analyze: Statistical Hypothesis Testing • Analyze: Sample Size Selection and Power • Analyze: Analysis of Variance (One way) Day 4: • Analyze: Correlation and regression • Improve: Introduction to Design of Experiments • Control: Statistical Process Control • Control: Control Plans Day 5: • Control: Poka Yoke • Project planning and discussions • Examination of 50 multiple choice questions • Closing remarks, Certificate distribution and wrap up Institute of Quality and Reliability SSGB Workshop April 2010 Page 3 of 6
  4. 4. Faculty: Mr. Hemant Urdhwareshe, Master Black Belt and Director Institute of Quality and Reliability (IQR) are the principal faculty for the program. He has more than 28 years of experience in Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering at Cummins India Limited (CIL). As head of quality, reliability and subsequently engineering functions at CIL, he was actively involved in driving Six Sigma and has sponsored many Six Sigma projects. He has applied various Six Sigma tools in improving processes and solving complex manufacturing and field problems. He has conducted many in-house training programmes on Leadership, Quality Engineering and management at CIL and on behalf of Indian Institution of Production Engineers (IIPE), Pune Section. He has also published many articles on Six Sigma and quality engineering. He has conducted many Six Sigma Programmes for organizations including Fleetguard Filters, TACO, Tata Motors, Alfa Laval, Eaton Technologies, Satyam Computers, Menon Pistons, Mahindra Hinoday, Mirc Electronics and College of Engineering. He has also conducted Six Sigma Green Belt public workshops. He has trained more than 350 Black and Green Belts. He is: • The author of forthcoming book ‘Six Sigma for Business Excellence’ scheduled to be published in April 2010 by Pearson Education • The co-author of forthcoming book ‘Total Quality Management’ scheduled to be published in April 2010 by Pearson Education • The first ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt in India (2001) • The first ASQ Certified Quality Manager in India (1998) • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (1996) and • ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer (2005) • The only person in India with four or more certifications from ASQ • Recipient of Silver Standard 2003 award from Qimpro Foundation • Senior Member of ASQ, Fellow of IIPE and member of National Center for Quality Management. (NCQM). • Qualified Lead Assessor Dr. Vikas Garud is a mechanical engineer from VJTI, Mumbai University. He completed post graduation– M. E., with specialization in Machine Design. His project in Robotics area was instrumental in development of full fledged robotics and automation laboratory in VJTI. He was first in the batch, in Mumbai University. Combining professional experience and research work carried out for the Aeronautical R&D Board, Defense Ministry, Govt. of India, he successfully completed Ph. D. in the area of Design Quality Assurance from Mumbai University. Dr. Vikas Garud started his career in Quality Management in MIRC Electronics Ltd., makers of the Onida brand of home appliances. Dr.Garud has assisted many organizations in developing quality systems and preparing for Business Excellence Awards. He has conducted number of workshops on QFD, FMEA, SPC, MSA, Process Mapping, Quality Audits Problem Solving and Six Sigma. Dr.Garud has worked as examiner/senior examiner for the IMC-Ramakrishna Bajaj National Quality Award. Course Material: 1. The course in non residential. Fees include Lunch and Tea at the venue. In case the course is purchased with SigmaXL software, participants will get a single-user licensed copy of SigmaXL software for Six Sigma implementation. Early registration price on or before 5 April 2010 is Rs.16,375 (plus Service Tax at 10.3%) The course can be purchased with a licensed copy of SigmaXL software for six sigma implementation. Participants have option to register for the workshop with SigmaXL software worth US$249 or Rs.12,000 (approximately). Refer table for pricing details.
