  • 3. Return to Top     ISO/AS Online Courses Is your company ISO 9001, AS9100 or ISO 14001certified? Do you have a Quality Management System (QMS) in place for your ISO or AS certifications? Edmonds Community College offers online training in ISO 9001, AS9100 and ISO 14001. Unique advantage of the Courses: The courses teach you how to manage your records. Companies will learn to develop and maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) using flowcharts. Flowcharting the business processes is a way to implement lean management and in the long term will save your business on time and costs. Intended audience for ISO 9001 and AS9100: Companies who have already achieved ISO or AS certification, but want to improve and maintain their QMS by learning how to integrate their system through the flowchart/map process. It is also ideal for suppliers of second tier aerospace suppliers who have never had ISO or AS certification. All of the major aerospace OEMs are requiring their subcontractors to be AS9100 certified. Intended audience for ISO 14001: Any organization interested in identifying and reducing its waste to the environment. The flowchart/map process will help companies integrate ISO 14001 with their current Quality Management system. Courses are taught by ISO certification expert, John Graham. Mr. Graham has been assisting companies with implementing ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems since 1992. He specializes in “flowcharting” or mapping the entire company’s QMS. Even before AS9100 was released John was helping aerospace suppliers conform to Boeing’s quality system requirements. He has also coordinated the AS9100 Users Group for the past 9 years.   • 4. Return to Top Composites Technician Aerospace Certificate This certificate offers aerospace workers advanced training in the area of fiber-reinforced composites. Edmonds Community College (Seattle, USA) offers customized training in this field. The certificate is geared towards aerospace metal workers who are transitioning to working with composite materials or newcomers in manufacturing who would like to get a sense of what it would be like to work with composites. Classes provide an introduction to material science and focus on composite materials, engineering, design and manufacturing of structures. The course is delivered through a combination of lecture and hands-on labs. The Composite Technician Certificate is comprised of 3 modules: MODULE 1: Introduction to Composite Materials theory This module provides an introduction to a variety of common materials used in fiber/matrix composites, their safety issues and general properties than can be achieved with different manufacturing procedures. Students will learn foundational knowledge of the composites industry; will be able to identify common composite materials, their properties, and environmental effects. MODULE 2: Fiber Reinforced Composites--Manufacturing Through classroom instruction and some hands-on practice, students will discuss, demonstrate, and experience a variety of methods used to fabricate and manufacture fiber reinforced composites. The advantages and disadvantages of different processes, safety, and tooling considerations will be addressed. MODULE 3: Fiber Reinforced Composites--Repair In the Classroom and in the Lab students will gain an understanding of and be able to demonstrate several basic types of composite repairs such as, surfaced, potted, taper sanded, and bolted.
