Using Acts 1 and its account of the Ascension of Jesus Christ, I search for some boundary markers and guideposts for my daily use of NT prophecy. I want my study of Christ's return to be a part of my daily walk, not a flight from it. Our Lord's last words provide just such markers and posts!

    • 5. ACTS 1:1-3 AN INTRODUCTION Here, Luke launches into his second history, one which tells the story of the apostles and of Paul, a most unlikely and 13th member of this devout group. 1. The first account I composed, Theophilus, about all that Jesus began to do and teach, 2. until the day when He was taken up to heaven, after He had by the Holy Spirit given orders to the apostles whom He had chosen. 3. To these He also presented Himself alive after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God.
    • 6. ACTS 1: 4 + 5 A COMMAND AND A PROMISE 4. Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised . . .
