    • Whether you work for a nationwide chain or you’re just a
small boutique, you have to advertise to be successful.
    • Most retailers use window signs, but vinyl banners should
be used as well as they can be customized and are very
    cost-effective.
    • Here’s a guide to help with the retail store banner design
    process:
  • 4. Banner Size
    • Measure the area where you’d like to display the banner.
    • 5. Outdoor banners need to be viewable from a distance, so they
should be at least 3’x6’ or larger.
    • Indoor banners can be smaller (2’x4’ is a common size).
    • 6. Most banner printing companies can accommodate custom sizes
    as well.
  • 7. Message
    • If you’re promoting an event (grand opening, holiday sale, etc.),
you’ll want to feature it as large as possible.
    • If you’re using this banner off-site, display your name, address
    phone number, etc.
    • Make your message exciting and encourage the customer to visit
    your store.
  • 8. Visuals
    • Keep fonts bold and simple—detailed script fonts are hard-to-read.
    • 9. The colors should be appropriate to the store and your message.
    • 10. Bright colors like red and yellow are great for a big sale, but use more
subdued colors if you’re displaying more information.
    • Include high-quality pictures of your best-selling products to show
    what you have to offer.
  • 11. Finishing/Location
    • Outdoor banners need special finishing (they are printed on a thicker
vinyl material with reinforced edges to prevent wind damage).
    • Indoor banners don’t need special finishing, but if you want to hang
them, make sure to add grommets.
