  • In March, took over a newly created position. Quite simply, Solid Edge can’t do everything. We need to make it easy for customers to get access to the technologies and companies that can help them the most. We need to make it easy to use these technologies from Solid Edge.Is it a Partner program like Voyager? Not exactly
  • We’ve only had a few months so far. If you have a favorite Partner, have them call me.

  • Mark Burhop
    Solid Edge App Ecosystem
  • Introduction
    Mark Burhop
Kind of a social media extremist (Blogs a lot, twitters too much, likes to talk about 3D CAD, hangs out on various CAD forums) – On the plus side, easy to reach 
Started my career as a mechanical engineer at Michelin Research and Development.
Decided I really liked this “CAD stuff” and ended up here.
I’ve been working on Solid Edge Since V16. Written a few Solid Edge Addins.
Used to work on NX and IDEAS before that. Product Manager for Solid Edge Simulation until a few months ago.
  • What is the Solid Edge App
    Ecosystem Anyway?
    The Technology Ecosystem
    Yeah, its kind of a
    long title…
  • The Best Technologies for Solid Edge Customers
Quite simply, Solid Edge can’t do everything. How do we bring these 3rd party technologies to Solid Edge? How can we better partner with these domain experts?
We need to make it easy for customers to access the latest ideas, technologies, and functionalities related to design.
  • The Technology Ecosystem
    • Give me useful technologies… and make it easy for me to find and evaluate them.
    • Suggest new Apps
    Community and Social Media Tools
    • Make it easier for developers to share information
    • Find new and better ways to communicate between customers, partners, and Siemens PLM.
    Solid Edge Technology Partners
    • Companies that have special technology to help our common customers.
    • examples are Cadenas, Simpoe, and Striker Systems here today.
    Technology Ecosystem
    Solid Edge Apps
    • All those useful Addins and Plugins and 3rd party integrations we use.
    • Make them easy to find, easy to create.
    • Create new ones with better integration.
What do you think would make a great Solid Edge App?
    Solid Edge API
Available to all customers. Makes Solid Edge do things you never thought of.
    Femap API
This is how we build Solid Edge Simulation.
    Great for non-programmers too.
    VAR Partners
    • Kept up-to-date on what Apps and complementary technologies are out there.
    • Have more and innovative ways to help customers.
    App Developers
    • “Help me make Solid Edge do wonderful, useful things”
    • Provide access to new technologies.
Siemens PLM Software and Technology Partner Program
Manages the signup, contracts, licenses of partners.
  • How is this going to Help Solid Edge Customers?
    • Easy access to new technologies like what you are going to see from Cadenas Today.
    • More partners supporting Solid Edge. Check out new partner Striker Systems for sheet metal nesting.
    • Better, more complete integrations with Solid Edge. Visit the Simpoe table and see the level of Solid Edge integration they provide for plastic injection simulation.
    • Making it easier to develop on top of Solid Edge means not only more partners, it is also more help for customers developing their own apps or specialized tools.
