  • How would you like to see the Future of Design, Today?Hi. My name is xxxx and I’d like to show you the latest version of Solid Edge ST3.Before we get started, I’d like to recognize Ikeda Empresarial for their development of the Grillex, a Brazillian Barbeque. Ikeda has been using Solid Edge for years and found significant productivity gains in products design.
  • Even the industry recognizes our technology as a major advancement in 3D CADThe CAD Society has awarded Bill McClure VP of product development and Dan Staples, Director of Solid Edge development this award for their leadership in bring a revolutionary new technology to the marketplace.Solid Edge with synchronous technology as also received the Design News 2009 Golden Mousetrap Best Product Award in the Software category! This prestigious award goes out to the best and most innovative product and beat entries by its closes competitors.Solid Edge with synchronous technology also won a key award from manufacturing Business technology. Receiving the only CAD award for the “The Most Innovative Product from a Vendor” shows more and more people are recognizing our technology for its speed, power and flexibility. These are the top awards in the CAD industry, and Solid Edge with synchronous technology has won them all.
  • This latest release Solid Edge ST3,fulfills the vision of synchronous technology by accelerating model creation, speeding ECO’s, and improving reuse with imported data further reduces the need for physical prototypes through a wider range of simulationsbuilds on Insight™ and Teamcenter Express’ integrated data management solutions opening collaboration to a wider range of CAD and non-CAD usersaddresses 1000’s customer requests across ordered modeling, drafting, and usability
  • Let’s start with how Solid Edge ST3 fulfills the vision of synchronous technology for accelerating design, speeding ECO’s and improving imported data reuse
  • First, what are your barriers to productive 3D design today? Most 3D systems require design pre-planning for model construction and an Aberdeen study, indicates 3D users struggle with managing complex CAD relationships.Design modifications tend to require unexpected amounts of time and require model cleanup. Another study from Aberdeen indicates must 3D users rely on the original CAD author to make a change and amost half complain that models fail after an edit. Lastly 3D CAD systems simply can’t edit imported data from suppliers. This forces companies like yours to be reliant on suppliers for making even the simplest of changes.3D design shouldn’t be this complicated, let’s see the future of 3D design with Solid Edge ST3.
  • For fulfilling the synchronous vision, designs created with synchronous methods now have access to a full range of applications. From piping to assembly features, all applications are available to all modeling technologies. For a first time ever, synchronous assembly designs now offer complete part-to-part associativity. Customers can make one part drive another before, during, or after the modeling process. Even imported parts can drive or be driven from other parts all without design pre-planning
  • Follow the voice in: 1_ST3_Assembly_Design-voiced.avi
  • Our integrated design environment expands synchronous users capabilities for accelerated design, fast, flexible edits, and improved imported design reuse.Customers can add ordered features to synchronous designs for unlimited modeling capabilities. Synchronous technology forms the design foundation and allows users to add ordered features for process-type steps. For example cast parts can be created using synchronous features, but order steps such as tapping, milling, and grinding operations can be used to document the second manufacturing step. Also, ordered features such as surfacing and advanced blends, can be added directly to a synchronous model giving users the ability to design anything. Not only does synchronous technology eliminate design pre-planning but users can make un-planned changes faster and more reliably.Adam Carlson at BackCove Yachts uses synchronous technology for all their solid modeling needs as it just does the job.
  • Follow the voice in: 2_ST3_ ST_Ordered_Design-A-voiced.avi
  • Here, fulfilling the synchronous vision also helps existing customers makes leveraging synchronous methods even easier. Our integrated design environment accelerates existing user adoptions because existing models with ordered features can utilize synchronous methods.Users can continue to use existing designs and workflows with no impacts. Customers can selectively move ordered features to synchronous when edits are needed outside the creation method. This selective adoption approach let’s customers use synchronous methods with minimal impacts to existing workflows.
  • Follow the voice in: 2_ST3_ ST_Ordered_Design-B-voiced.avi
  • Fulfilling the synchronous vision also extends to better handling imported designs. A new concept is being introduced here that migrates 2D manufacturing dimensions to 3D models to preserve design intent. These new capabilities take 2D drawing dimensions and transform them into editable 3D driving dimensions on imported 3D models. Manufacturing dimensions such as distance between holes and overall height across multiple features, become the driver, not model or sketch dimensions. Newly added dimensions are ready for edits and any geometric intent “lost” in translation found and maintained with Live Rules. This new capability is perfect for moving 3D data into Solid Edge and with our bulk migration tools, complete 3D accounts includingInventor, Pro/E, Autodesk Mechanical Desktop, and Ideas can be replaced.
  • Follow the voice in: 3_ST3_Data_Migration - voiced.avi
  • The future of 3D design is here. Solid Edge ST3 fulfills the vision of synchronous technology thatAccelerates model creation by eliminating design pre-planning for decreases times to marketSpeedsECO edits by eliminating model regeneration that Improves on-time delivery reputationsAnd Improves imported reuse by leveraging imported 2D or 3D data that lLowers engineering costsTake a simple example of the overall design process where parts need to be modeled, changes made, and supplier parts integrated into the design. Expect increased revenues with Solid Edge ST3, but lost business with competitive systems.
  • NOTE TO FIELD MARKETING: REPLACE THIS CASE STUDY AS NEEDED WITH A LOCAL ONE. MAKE SURE THE SELECTED CASE STUDY IS BASED ON SYCHRONOUS TECHNOLOGY AND DRAWS OUT SOME TANGIBLE BENEFITS Let’s take a look at a very successful solid edge customer Leutenegger + Frei. Faced with the challenge of standardizing parts for better reuse while shortening design times, this leader in electric backing equipment and cooling systems chose Solid Edge with synchronous technology.Their results were staggering, they reduced design time from 3 weeks to 1 day
  • Next let’s see the future of design today with our embedded Simulation application and how we help engineers simulate more real world conditions. Some new enhancements, help designers getMore accurate simulations that reduces physical prototypesFaster simulations with model simplification for faster design timesMore refinements with synchronous technology for higher quality
  • So what are todays limitations with design simulation? Some of the solutions available today are overly simplistic in their approach to simulation which can compromise solution accuracy and create misleading results. Most 3D CAD systems lack the ability to easily remove insignificant geometry such as holes, rounds, or other features that only slow analysis timesDesigners in other systems don’t have the inability to edit geometry easily after analysis and inhibit the ability to test design alternatives quickly.
  • Our simulation builds on our initial release in providing a complete simulation tools from definition to refinement but adds additional capabilities to simulate more realistic design scenarios. Customers can now simulate the effects of torque and bearings and apply constraints to mimic how parts are bolted together or custom user-defined constraints.Because of our integrated design environment, designs created with ordered or synchronous features can be simulated and simplified models can be analyzed. Customers can remove unnecessary features such as rounds, holes, fillets etc. for faster simulations but obtain accurate results. Because model simplification is ordered, changes to synchronous features automatically propagate to the simplified model. When it comes to making design refinements, synchronous technology provides the fastest most flexible platform. 3D Driving Dimensions for precise change and Live Rules manages intent.

  • The future of 3D design is here. With Solid Edge ST3 Simulation designers can simulate more real world conditions.Accurate simulations with additional loads constraints reduces time and expense of building physical prototypesDesigners can get faster simulations with model simplification for quicker results decreases time to marketAndSynchronous modeling is available for faster design refinements that help you create higher quality productsIn a typical use case, expect added costs to build and test physical prototypes and material usage.
  • NOTE TO FIELD MARKETING: REPLACE THIS CASE STUDY AS NEEDED WITH A LOCAL ONE. MAKE SURE THE SELECTED CASE STUDY IS BASED ON SIMULATION AND DRAWS OUT SOME TANGIBLE BENEFITS Before we close out this topic, let’s hear from one of our customers Modern MechanicalFabThis company is a household name in the youth lifestyle consumer product market. If you kid rids a scooter, chances are it’s a razor. This certified women-owned business in custom design, needed to produce better products faster and at a lower cost. Getting high quality products often required outsourcing professional engineering services adding to costs and delays. They turned to Solid Edge Simulation and reduced engineering services by 50%.
  • Next let’s see the future of design today with our scalable product data management solution. With Solid Edge Insight™ and Teamcenter Express designers can complete projects, manage tasks and integrate design data with key business processes
  • So what are todays limitations with data management and collaboration?Design data management is more than searching and vaulting, it should encompass project management and business reporting. And designers and non-CAD can’t create a product structure without creating the complete CAD model
  • Solid Edge Insight is a design data management solution that harnesses the easy of use and fast implementation of Microsoft’s SharePoint platformInsight is embedded inside Solid Edge so designers can complete data management tasks transparently. The software is included with Solid Edge Classic – so most new and existing Solid Edge customers have immediate access to this solution with no additional Solid Edge software to purchase! The SharePoint based web portal provides easy access to Solid Edge data, projects and tasks for non Solid Edge usersThe benefits of Insight are clear and have been proven by many customers worldwide – in fact Insight was the first SharePoint solution to be made available focused on CAD data management – Insight was first released with Solid Edge Version 11 in 2001!More than 1000 customers worldwide have taken advantage of Insight and many case studies have been published including Reading Bakery, Link belt, Stanford Linear Accelerator, JiangnanJiajie Elevator and TomcarThe key benefits include faster retrieval of correct data, more reuse of proven components in new projects and improved collaboration both within the design team and with all departments who need to access, analyze and approve design data
  • Solid Edge ST3 brigns collaboration for a wider range of users by leveraging Insight™ and Microsoft SharePoint 2010Solid Edge Insight™ continues to leverage Microsoft SharePoint and now works with SharePoint 2010 for many new capabilities. Available in SharePoint are built-in collaboration tools that let CAD and not CAD users share information with manufacturing, customers and suppliersAn integrated task and project management system is available to Insight users. If you are familiar with Microsoft Project, its now a server and integrated with SharePoint Team Services. Customers will have the ability to track Solid Edge tasks and design projects directly in SharePoint using actual CAD files.Another exciting capability in SharePoint 2010 is an integrated business reporting that can be based on CAD data. By using Solid Edge models, customers can estimate costs and analyze product makeup with PowerPivot, an integrated Excel-based pivot table.James Bullington at Inergi uses insight to manage all their Solid Edge data. Users don’t‘ even know they are working in a managed environment.
  • NOTE TO FIELD MARKETING: REPLACE THIS CASE STUDY AS NEEDED WITH A LOCAL ONE. MAKE SURE THE SELECTED CASE STUDY IS BASED ON INSIGHT AND DRAWS OUT SOME TANGIBLE BENEFITS Let’s take a look at one of our many customers that use Solid Edge Insight. Reading Bakery systems a supplier of cooking equipment to popular food brands such as Nabisco and the Kellogg company.Faced with managing products that require significant customization and have thousands of drawings, Solid Edge and Insight helped them increase design productivity by 63% while cutting drawing time.Michael Cox, the IT manager at reading bakery says that some of the productivity gains are from finding and reusing more of their existing data.
  • NOTE TO FIELD MARKETING: REPLACE THIS CASE STUDY AS NEEDED WITH A LOCAL ONE. MAKE SURE THE SELECTED CASE STUDY IS BASED ON TEAMCENTER EXPRESS AND DRAWS OUT SOME TANGIBLE BENEFITS Schätti AG based in Switzerland and Bulgaria designs and manufactures metal components and sub-assemblies for the electronic, machinery and furniture industries.Schättiselected Teamcenter Express to maximize the capacity and expertise of their two manufacturing sites by introducing a shared common database of product information accessible by all engineers in all locations.
