  • We will talk about the enhancements in 4 different areas starting with how ST7 helps you to accelerate your 3D modelingST7 includes many enhancements that accelerate your 3D part and assembly modeling, and the creation of 2D drawings – it also includes excellent photo-realistic rendering capabilities that enable you to create beautiful images of your products
  • We will also show you how you can streamline your design management – enhancements in Solid Edge SP further deliver on our visual approach to managing your design data and help you to speed the completion of your design projects
  • With Solid Edge ST7 you can also power up with new apps that help you get more productive for your complete design-through-manufacturing processWe will show you how advances in both our partner provided apps – and apps developed by Siemens – help you in specific areas like electro-mechanical design, cloud based collaboration, and the ability to make the best use of the latest devices like the Microsoft Surface Pro
  • And another key area for ST7 is a focus on an amazing user experience – our users can unleash their creative potential more than ever with easier access to Solid Edge software and our most intuitive user interface yet
  • Lets look at the first area in more detail – how Solid Edge ST7 helps you to accelerate your 3D modeling – how you can take your designs to the next level with faster, more flexible 3D modeling and beautiful photo-realistic rendering
  • The new 3D sketch command will help you quickly design wires and pipes that are bent in multiple planes, and components that are swept along a 3D path – it can also be used to route pipes and wires around a 3D assembly3D sketch is available in the Part, Assembly and Sheet Metal environments and is a great example of improving the speed and flexibility of modeling operations for Solid Edge users
  • And here is an example of how 3D sketch can be used – quickly designing this mounting bracket that attached the handle to this cookware
  • Another enhancement in ST7 is the ability to define a “fixed length curve” – in this case the curve that you define is automatically adjusted when either of the end points is moved, or if points along the curve itself are moved – and the length of the curve is maintainedThis is useful where you want to use a hoses or cable of a specified stock length in your assemblies – you can use more stock components instead of custom components, reducing your product costs
  • For customers who manufacture formed or stamped sheet metal parts the “Create Blank” command creates a flatteded blank from any 3D model. The formability of different materials is assessed and the exact blank size and shape required to manufacture the component is calculatedThis new capability is included with the Classic and Premium levels of Solid Edge
  • Here we show the process flow for “Create Blank” . This motor mounting plate is manufactured in sheet metal using a stamping process. The component is modeled in the Solid Edge Part and Sheet Metal environments and then the Create Blank command is used to create a model of the flattened blank that will be needed to manufacture this component. The blank is itself a Solid Edge part model that can be documented using the Drafting environment
  • The user’s ability to create a flattened sheet metal model from existing 3D models is significantly enhanced in ST7The new command works on any type of 3D part model whether it has uniform thickness or not and uses existing edges to define bend informationThe user also has the option to retain or consume the original 3D model Using this new capability users can significantly reduce the number of steps required to model certain components compared with modeling the component using traditional sheet metal modeling commands
  • Synchronous Technology enables Solid Edge users to combine the speed and simplicity of direct modeling with the flexibility and control of parametric design – ST7 extends synchronous technology to include more modeling scenariosOne example of these is the ability to recognize multiple chamfers in both imported and native models. The user can select multiple faces and Solid Edge detects all chamfers and populates a table with the parameters for these chamfers – it is then easy to edit individual or multiple chamfers
  • Another area where Synchronous Technology helps users to work faster and more flexibly is by recognizing patterns is both native and imported modelsA new option is added to the hole pattern recognition dialog that enables patters of patterns to be recognized, for the master pattern to be defined and the type of pattern – rectangular or circular to be defined – the pattern of patterns can then be edited rapidly
  • Quite often users want to use basic shapes as the starting point for creating new geometry, or they want to remove material using a basic shapeThis might seem fairly basic – but by significantly reducing the number of mouse clicks required to create basic geometry – users can speed their modeling process significantly
  • ST7 adds extensive new capabilities for creating beautiful product images for products designed using Solid Edge – the new solution uses the industry-leading KeyShot software that is now included with Solid Edge Classic and PremiumThe ability to rapidly create outstanding product images can have a huge impact on your ability to communicate your designs to your customers – and help you to win more business!
  • Unique rendering technology makes it possible to see all changes to materials, lighting, and cameras instantly. You don’t need to hit the render button and wait for minutes or hours to wait for the results. KeyShot is 100% CPU-Powered, thereforeit takes full advantage of all cores and threads inside a computer- no need for any special hardware or graphics card! The performance scales linearly with the number of cores and threads in the system- double the amount of cores, double the performance and cut render time in half.Any imported data is stored in RAM – not the video card. This allows KeyShot to handle extremely large data sets. There are no restrictions on the size of the data set as long as the computer has enough memory available.KeyShot is the first realtime ray tracing application. Users can continue modeling in Solid Edge and push over changes to KeyShot. Changed parts will be replaced and updated with the new parts and all materials and animations will be maintained. Whether you are creating 3D renderings or animations, you see everything in KeyShot’s viewport within Solid Edge, concurrent with your modeling session!
