Bowling Green Park is the oldest park in New York City. As the Encyclopedia of New York City note "the local government laid out a bowling green in 1733 and offered it for rent to three local residents for one peppercorn a year". It had previously been used as a parade ground and cattle market.

  • Public Park The park is a teardrop shaped plaza formed by the branching of Broadway.The park is a fenced in grassy area with tables and chairs that are popular lunchtime destinations for workers in the nearby Financial District.There is a fountain in the center which is bounded on all sides by a grove of trees. © OnBoard 2010 3
  • Charging Bull © OnBoard 2010 4 It is home to the famous Charging Bull sculpture, also known as the “Wall Street bull”, a symbol of financial optimism. Since 1989 tis icon has sat at the head of the park a 7,000 pound Charging Bull it was moved to Bowling Green shortly after being illegally deposited in front of the Stock Exchange by sculptor Arturo Di Modica.
  • Popular Lunch Spot Previously there was a public street along the south edge of the park, also called "Bowling Green", but since this area was needed for a modern entrance to the subway station, the road was eliminated and paved over with cobblestones. The recent beautification efforts through its birchlike London Plane trees, simple fountain, wooden benches, and wi-fi access make it a popular lunch spot. The Bowling Green Park is among a mixed area of residential and work places Lots of places to eat and drink subway entrance and the Wall Street.
