  • 1. GLOBAL WARMING - gradual warming of the atmosphere perhaps due to the 'greenhouse effect'
  • 2. Industries release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere
  • 3. All living beings on earth breath in oxygen and breath out carbon dioxide during respiration.
  • 4. Traffic emits carbon dioxide into the atmosphere
  • 5. Trees and vegetation absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen during photosynthesis
  • 6. Thus cleaning the air for other living beings, they are often called the LUNGS OF THE EARTH
  • 7. When we cut trees and clear vegetation. We reduce this cleaning process, carbon dioxide increases at the rate of half a year. THE GREEN HOUSE EFFECT results.
  • 8. Pollution emits gases Into the atmosphere (such as oxides of Carbon, Nitrogen and Sulfur, Chloroflurocarbons, methane, etc)
  • 9. Pollution gases accumulate and form a layer encircling the earth
  • 10. Pollution layer insulates the earth and returns the heat from the earth
  • 11. THE EARTH becomes warmer , just like a GREENHOUSE
  • 12. The ozone layerprotects the earth by filtering the harmful ultravioletrays from the sunlight falling on earth. When man-made chloroflorucarbons destroy the Ozone layer.More ultraviolet radiation will penetrate to the Earth and cause human health problems and damage food crops.
  • 13. When it is destroyed more ultraviolet rays will fall on earth and cause problems to human health such as: Acute sunburn, Premature aging of the skin Skin cancer, nutritional disorders Susceptibility to infections,
  • 14. Polar ice caps melting
  • 15. Spread of diseases
  • 16. More water and more hurricanes
  • 17. Increase probability and intensity of drought and heat waves
  • 18. Economic consequences
  • 19. Deforestation in Iguaco South
  • 20. An Earth without trees? Possible but unthinkable
  • 21. Thank You
