through Mobile IP

2. Motivation
The huge market demand drives the growth of Mobile IP.
Besides, the technologies of GPRS and WLAN are also boosting
the development of Mobile IP. Mobile IP is the earliest solution
to mobility management of IP network.
 The seamless usage of internet in portable devices.
 Solution of handoff problem.

3. Introduction
Mobile networking is something which is capable of maintaining
network connectivity even when there is a change in the point
of attachment to the Internet .
• Home address (HA)
• Care-of address (CoA)
Mobile networking doesn't has geographical limitations .

4. Issues of Handoff
Handoff is the transition for any given user of signal
transmission from one base station to a geographically adjacent
base station as the user moves around.
• Dropping ip packets
• Handoff latency

5. Solution
• Reducing packet loss by delivering binding update to the
mobile node’s previous foreign agent.
• Smoothing handoff by defining a previous foreign agent
notification message.
• Establishment of a registration key by optimizing route.

6. Establishment of
Registration Key
• Providing a security association with its foreign agents to the
mobile node.
• At the conclusion of the registration process, it allows the
distribution of the registration key to both the mobile node
and the foreign agent.
• Eliminating most common man-in-the-middle attacks by
securely establishing a registration key.

7. Conclusion
Mobile IP is the genesis and continuing motivation for a
worldwide effort to bring wireless data communications into
common use.
It seems certain that Mobile IP will play an increasingly
important part in the deployment of future Internet mobile
networking.
