Biography-Sherri EdelmanSherri Edelman has over 20 years experienceas an advocate for individuals, children and theirfamilies, and in the role of counselor, coach, educator, group leader, entrepreneur, publicspeaker, and federalexpert witness. Since 1996, she has presented professional workshops andseminars on topics related to child abuse, domestic violence, family resiliency, and bullying—atschools, universities, colleges and hospitals. Professional experience includes working as asexual assault focused education leader (S.A.F.E.) in New Jersey and as a therapist at both TheNational Hospital for Kids in Crisis (KidsPeace) in PA, and at the NJ Cares Institute Center forChildren’s Support at UMDNJ-Stratford.She was awarded the Annual Educator’s Award by thePennsylvania Psychological Association,had an internship at Dr. Beck’s Center for CognitiveTherapy at Penn, andwas honored to serve as an Advisory Panel Member for the Best Practicesfor Healing Child Abuse Summit. She holds a Doctorateand a Masters degree in Psychologyfromthe Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine; a dual Masters degree from HahnemannUniversity in Group Psychotherapy and Group Dynamics; and a Bachelor of Science degree inEducation from Temple University. Her doctoral dissertation was an empirical study examiningadolescent girls’attitudes about relational aggression—which was awarded meritoriousdistinction. A diverse professional background includes entrepreneurship (founder, owner andCEO of holistic wellness center), business management,teaching, program management, chairand board member of not for profit A National Call to Action: A Movement to End ChildAbuse,member of not for profit Teach Anti-Bullying, independent counseling andcoachingpractice, and training and consulting.Some of her special training includes cognitivebehavior therapy, treatment of anxiety and panic, cognitive behavioral and Trauma FocusedCognitive Behavior Therapy. Since 2004, she has media experience in both live and tapedtelevision broadcasts, including repeat appearances on theNBC Today Show in New York;Surviving Motherhood on The Learning Channel (TLC) (working with children and families incrisis); Fox Good Day Philadelphia and Fox evening prime time news;segments on ABC andCBS prime time network news broadcasts; and CN8’s It’s Your Call with Lynn Doyle. She hascontributed a number of published articles on a variety of topics relating to child abuse andpsychology, and appears in print articles in magazines and journals.
