Ceramics Syllabus Review

Materials
Small 3-ring binder (1” is suitable) with 5 tabbed dividers – this will act as your sketchbook and hold all course documents
Several pencils – bring one to every class
A few pink, white or kneaded erasers – bring one to every class
Several plastic bags; grocery bags will work if doubled or tripled. Heavier bags often work better. These are to keep your projects from drying out between class times.

Assignments
Weekly process and effort grades
Daily warm-ups and reflections
Sketchbook assignments related to each individual project
4-6 large scale units

Assessment
Weekly Process & Effort:
You will be given process and effort grades based on your work ethic and productivity. Weekly effort is worth 50% of overall grade and each weekly grade is out of 20 possible points.
Part of the weekly process & effort grade includes daily warm-ups and reflections. Failure to complete these daily tasks will result in point deductions. See weekly effort rubric for expectations and requirements.
Projects:
Rubrics will be provided at the beginning of all projects outlining how they will be graded. Projects are worth 50% of overall grade. See rubrics provided at the start of each assignment. *** Please note: you will be required to return rubrics and assignments packets upon completion of each project. If packets and rubrics are lost it is your responsibility to find replacements. If packets are not submitted with final projects, points will be deducted from final project grade. ***

Clean-up & Maintenance
Everyone is required to clean-up their own workspace 2-3 minutes prior to the end of the block.
This includes picking up papers, pencils, and ALL MATERIALS USED to where they belong.
Those that clean-up early will be asked to stay extra time after the bell to assist in additional clean-up tasks.
In Ceramics clean-up is critical to a safe environment. Improper clean-up will result in a “0” effort grade for the week.
