  • 1. Adeline Ng Ai Choo Story By : Catherine Lim (Little Ironies – Stories of Singapore)
  • 2.
    • I have failed again
    • In my ‘O’ levels
    • This time, it was just one mark!
    • One Mark to pass my exam!
    • I wish I had some luck.
    • I just knew nothing!
  • 3.
    • Fail, Fail, FAIL! Was all I received!
    • One more mark was all what I needed
    • A passing grade for my father will be a gift.
    • But the colours did not seem to appear
    • Looks like I am destined to fail
    • I am such a failure!
  • 4.
    • When I asked the teacher for that mark
    • All he said was no, what bad luck.
    • And it would make the exam a farce
    • Although it enable students to pass
  • 5.
    • What am I going to do?
    • My father will be very disappointed
    • He would fume
    • And charge like an angry bull
    • Even though I studied hard
    • I just could not remember!
    • I am stuck in the mud.
  • 6.
    • I am my parents’ only child
    • Pinning high hopes on me
    • In return, a huge disappointment
    • It was just one mark that was the key,
    • ONE MARK!
    • Which ended my life
  • 7.
