  • 2. What is WIAIH?
    • Non profit organization!
    • Provides support to individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism
    • Offers support and education to families as well
    • Many different services offered
  • 3. Goal and Philosophy
    • We develop and provide programs and services designed to support the independence and empowerment of these children, adults and families. WIAIH takes a leadership role in advocating for the rights of people with intellectual disabilities or autism and sensitizing the community to their rights and needs. We work in collaboration with government services rather than in competition with them, in order to provide more services to families.

  • 4. Family and Community Support
    • Informs families about government services offered
    • The Informer
    • Monthly Coffee Breaks
    • Monthly meetings and support meetings
  • 5. Pat Roberts Centre
    • Adapted Preschool for children with developmental disabilities
    • Children 2-5 years old can attend morning or afternoon sessions
    • Children under 2 years old can have an educator visit the home to provide stimulation
  • 6. Integration Me Too! and other Me Too! and other
    • Me Too! helps to integrate children with special needs into daycares around the West Island
    • Regular visits and follow ups
    • Integration aid helps children or adults integrate into the community, activities, day camps, etc.
  • 7. Paus’Action
    • Babysitting and companion referral program
    • Have a bank of qualified, trained sitters
    • Provides respite care to families
    • Matches sitters to families based on needs
  • 8. Valois Residence
    • Residence for adults with various special needs
    • Many programs offered to residence
    • Respite provided on weekends for others
  • 9. Staff
    • Non profit organization
    • Volunteer basis, 500+
    • Trained babysitters and SCC’s at residence
    • Everyone experienced
  • 10. Membership
    • Membership is $25/year
    • Everyone can be a member, and will obtain access to all services
    • Referrals are not required, membership done online
