You do not need to be here for the same reason, I respect whichever reason you hold. I do wish to make it clear why I am here because Climate ChanceAs I know it, is here to enact change in a way that is consistent with its vision – a just and sustainable world, and that vision does not come to life without you all, your vision and sense of purpose.

    Standard 6– your story

    Standard 6– your story

Where we are now – in terms of technological tools for expressing ideas… Here I borrowed a few graphs from a presentation on Ted Talk by Clay Shirky, In the last century, traditional way of an organization spreading its message to the public is like this:With TV, Radio, Emails etc.

Now the audience can talk back. And that’s a little freaky. But you can get used to it after a while, as people do.

But that’s not the really crazy change that we’re living in the middle of. The really crazy change is here. It’s the fact that they are no longer disconnected from each other.

As recently at last decade, Most of the media that was available for public consumption was produced by professionals. Those days are over, never to return. It is the green lines now, that are the source of the free content.

The question we all face now is, “How can we make best use of this media? Even though it means changing the way we’ve always done it.”

Notice- there is virtually no structure now at project level. Very limited structure at the SC level – only 3 team

Keeping in mind, the steering committee members are only members in charge, all the specific part are carried out by EVERYONE together.

    Open Source Administration

Huddle – how to label, invite people, organise file, annouceForum – how to create new postsDesign- How to tag

Event Annoucement to public is only editable by Networkers, projectors can contact the networkers for updatesProjecters, can however, go join our “website committee” so to be directly involved in editing website (which is also open-sourced and easily editable)Photography & Video – Projecters can use our accounts themselves…

The Network Design Skethbook is our “tumblrblog”, it is going to be the most important platform for discussions and dialogue after the “national forums”,The idea is that with our open-source online “blog” tightly linked to the website,to increase communication between “us” and the publicThe beauty lies in a mix of these five functions: 1- any of our volunteers or affiliated groups can gain access and publish events, and our team will automatically link it to all other blogs, Google calendar, twitter, face book, website etc. (depending on the scale and frequency) – chinese version blog (Sohu, Sina) and website- need your help!2- Our website serves for people to know about us quickly, so many details are not fully elaborated. As we are, by making changes, making new languages, it helps to use this blog as the “assistant” to give more elaboration on what me meant and intended through the uses of specific terms.Anything inspiring – tag InspiredOther tags:Climate ChanceNews VideoMusicResourcesPeople – feature our profile, (Partners, BOA, Alumni etc) Climate Change CommunicationProject-350 (or any project names: Project- Recycling)FormsIf add new tags, contact administrator, or the post will be automatically Re-tagged by administratorsCurrent administrator – none (temporary: Jessica and Serena)

Google Template Group and Huddle will have the templatesName-Card/T-shirt Information – must fill in if you want them by the end of the week.

    Standard 6– your story

Reflected in our structure (organic, minimal), decision-making (decentralized, not so much in form but In essence), change being the status quo, leadership model (servant), our insistent on examinaiton of mental models, deeply help believes, our change approach (structural and system thinking) …moreover, self-awareness, and consciousness

    Your idea?

      Questions For You
    11. What does climate change mean
      to you?
      Our story…
    12. Discussion
      Listen to how you listen
    13. amI
      Why am I here?
    14. Why are we here?
We see climate change as a symptom of the larger pattern of unsustainable development of the Industrial Age, which our current social, economic, political institutions and structures are based on.
A structure based on extraction, manipulation
and transportation of natural resources towards centralised locations.
    15. The structure assumes natural resources including human beings are objects. Because the way we think are shaped and institutionalized, a product of the structure. We treat each other like objects, manipulate one another (or their minds).
      It erodes relationships.
    16. By assuming nature (and human beings) as objects, it assumes that nature and human are separated.
Our current economic structure assumes limited resources, and unlimited growth. It is constantly generating bubbles in order to sustain itself, and once bubbles burst, the structure squeezes itself, it has already done so during the financial crisis.
    17. Kubler Ross Grief Cycle
      - Combat Climate Change Coalition – formed by all civic societies in HK
      - “Fight Against” Climate Change
      - “To avoid a future”…
      - Small individual behavior change matter…
    18. So Why am I here?
I am committed to the possibility of a conscious and benevolent transition to a world where we can live together, all of us ‘face-to-face’ in a way that reflects the deep and natural interconnectedness and prior unity of our reality.
I am committed to a quality of individual and collective realization of ‘reality itself’ that is compassionate and loving.
This involves a kind of liberation from the way in which much of our collective attention has become fixed and institutionalized in the collective dream of the industrial era, its effects and our coping mechanisms.
