  • 2. NegativesªTo make a sentence negative in Spanish, you usually put “no” in front of the verb or expression.ªIn English you usually use the word “not.”ªNo me gusta cantar.ªI do not like to sing.
  • 3. NegativesªTo answer a question negatively, in Spanish you often use “no” twice.ªThe first “no” answers the question.ªThe second “no” says, I do not … (don’t).”
  • 4. NegativesªThis is similar to the way you answer a question in English.ª¿Te gusta escribir cuentos?ªDo you like to write stories?ªNo, no me gusta.ªNo, I don’t.
  • 5. NegativesªIn Spanish, you might use one or more negatives after answering “no.”ª¿Te gusta cantar?ªDo you like to sing?ªNo, no me gusta nada.ªNo, I don’t like it at all.
  • 6. NegativesªIf you want to say that you do not like either of two choices, use ni… ni:ªNo me gusta ni nadar ni dibujar.ªI don’t like either swimming or drawing.ªI like neither swimming nor drawing.
