  • 2. SUBJECT PRONOUNS
    • A subject pronoun replaces a noun that is doing the action of a verb.
  • 3. SUBJECT PRONOUNS
    • For example:
    • Señora White is my Spanish teacher. Señora White is very silly. Señora White loves dancing to the MAMBO!
    • In these sentences we can replace “Señora White ” with “ She ” since we know who we are talking about and who is doing the action. “She” is a subject pronoun .

  • 5. YO = I
    • 1st person singular
    • Used to talk about yourself
  • 6. TÚ = YOU
    • 2nd person singular
    • Used to talk to someone
    • Informal
  • 7. USTED (UD.) = YOU
    • 2 nd person singular
    • Used to talk to someone
    • Formal
    • Has 3 rd person verb conjugation
  • 8. ÉL = HE
    • 3 rd person singular
    • Used to talk about someone
  • 9. ELLA = SHE
    • 3 rd person singular
    • Used to talk about someone
  • 10. NOSOTROS (-AS) = WE
    • 1 st person plural (self is included)
    • Used to talk about yourself & others
    Nosotros (males only or a mixed group of males & females) Nosotras (females only)
  • 11. VOSOTROS (-AS) = YOU ALL
    • 2 nd person plural
    • Used to talk to more than 1 person
    • Informal
    • Mostly used in Spain.
    • Vosotros: Group of all males or a mix of males & females.
    • Vosotras: Group of all females.
  • 12. USTEDES (UDS.) = YOU ALL
    • 2 nd person plural
    • Formal when used in Spain (vs. vosotros/as)
    • Used to talk to a group of 2 or more people
    • Has 3 rd person plural conjugation
  • 13. ELLOS = THEY
    • 3 rd person plural
    • Used to talk about more than 1 person
    • Can be a group of males or males & females .
  • 14. ELLAS = THEY
    • 3 rd person plural
    • Used to talk about more than 1 person
    • Only refers to a group of girls
  • 15. YOU CAN ORGANIZE THESE PRONOUNS IN A SIMPLE CHART TO HELP UNDERSTAND THEM BETTER. Singular Plural   Yo = I   Nosotros = we (all male or mixed group) Nosotras = we (all female)     Tú = you (familiar)   Vosotros = all of you (familiar, male or mixed) Vosotras = all of you (familiar, all female)     Él = he Ella = she Usted ( Ud. ) = you (formal)   Ellos = They (all male or mixed) Ellas = They ( all female) Ustedes (Uds.) = all of you
