Mathcad in O&G for flow calculations

The mass flow calculation is given in the international standard ISO 5167. 
In an industrial installation this calculation will be performed using dedicated flow computers.
There is a requirement to validate these calculations and periodically perform independent checks,
Tools such as Excel had been used, but iteration made this cumbersome and transparency is difficult to
achieve, increasing risk of errors.

Economic Factors: Companies are constantly trying to find ways to save money and be more efficient particularly in the today’s tough economy. A Lean Product Development initiative enables companies to be more productive by increasing design reuse, standardizing working methods, reducing product scrap and rework, etc. Workforce demographics refers to the large number of retiring engineers expected in the next few years and the influx of younger engineers who are familiar with new social computing technologies. Companies are putting into place initiatives where they are looking at adopting Web 2.0 technology to address these challenges (in other words, social product development)Regulations: The list of green/environmental and other regulatory requirements in product development imposed by governing agencies around the globe continues to grow. Many companies are searching for a solution that will help them measure and improve product performance and compliance along multiple dimensions, which ultimately yields better-performing, more profitable products that meet cost targets (Compliance Management). )
