Life-Lessons from Job Job 1:20-21 20 Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said: "Naked I came from my mother's womb, And naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord."
  2. 2. Introduction ● The book of Job is about a normal human being who is beset with suffering and misfortune ● James 5:11 Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord--that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful. ● The key words – Patient, Endurance
  3. 3. Life-Lessons from Job ● First life-lesson: “Naked I came from my mother's womb” ● All of us start with the same possessions ● Sign – I started with nothing. I still have most of it. ● Everyone has the same starting point. ● Everything we have came from God.

Life-Lessons from Job ● Second life-lesson: “And naked shall I return there.” ● All of us leave this life with the same possessions as when we started. ● Possessions end at the cemetery. ● Luke 12:20-21 20 But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?' 21 So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

Life-Lessons from Job ● Second life-lesson: “And naked shall I return there.” ● Matthew 19:23-24 23 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Life-Lessons from Job ● Third life-lesson: “The Lord gave” ● All belongs to God ● Psalm 50:10-12 10 For every beast of the forest is Mine, And the cattle on a thousand hills. 11 I know all the birds of the mountains, And the wild beasts of the field are Mine. 12 "If I were hungry, I would not tell you; For the world is Mine, and all its fullness. ● Pray for your daily needs – Matthew 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.

Life-Lessons from Job ● Third life-lesson: “The Lord gave” ● All belongs to God ● God knows how to give what we need ● Matthew 6:8 For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. ● James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
  8. 8. Life-Lessons from Job ● Fourth life-lesson: “The Lord has taken away” ● Our favorite word – MINE. ● We must learn to trust in God. ● We are clay in His hands. (Romans 9:20-21) ● The clay does not question the potter. ● We must trust the omniscience of God. (Omniscience = able to know all things)

Life-Lessons from Job ● Fifth life-lesson: “Blessed be the name of the Lord” ● We praise God because He cares for us. ● He gives us good and perfect gifts. ● We offer thanksgiving, love and praise. ● 1 Peter 5:6-7 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

FINAL NOTE: ● Job possessed great riches, but his riches did not possess him. ● He remained faithful to God through good times and bad. ● Job 1:22 In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong. ● Job 13:15 Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him.
