Bearyourown burdens ● There are many things that you must do ● No one else (or group) can ________ for you. – Believe, Repent, be Baptized – Live the Christian life ● No one can keep the commands of God for you – even if others don't ● If every other person is lost – you go to heaven ● Don't allow others to keep you from heaven

  4. 4. Bearone another's burdens ● Some are yours alone ● Others are social, community, church, family ● In context – a brother falls away (v.1) ● Who does NOT have burdens? – Elders, deacons, teachers – Parents, school teachers – Workers, retired – Health, finances, personal issues
  5. 5. Bearone another's burdens ● How can we help with another's burdens? ● Show confidence in others ● Encourage workers ● What is the straw that breaks the camels back? ● There are many “unsung heroes” in the church ● Be alert for those in need

Cast burden on the Lord ● Peter quoted this passage in 1 Peter 5:7 ● NOTE: God does not promise to REMOVE the burden – ● The Lord will sustain us. ● 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
  8. 8. Cast burden on the Lord ● Think about how God sustained: ● Daniel in the lion's den ● Elijah in the wilderness ● Elisha at the brook Kidron ● Jesus in the garden ● Paul with his thorn in the flesh

Cast burden on the Lord ● God sees us through the tunnel and out the other end ● He leads us all the way home – Lead me gently home, Father, – Lead me gently home, – When life’s toils are ended – And parting days have come; – Sin no more shall tempt me, – Ne’er from Thee I’ll roam, – If Thou’lt only lead me, Father, – Lead me gently home.
