1. Introduction to Test Partners
Background
Test Partners were founded in 2001 to provide specialist outsource software testing
services, both on-site and from our Test Centre in Central London.
We specialise in testing websites, web-based applications and mobile applications such as
e-commerce, online banking, e-learning and social networks. Our experience includes more
than 1000 functionality and compatibility testing projects and 350 accessibility-related
projects include technical testing, user testing, expert reviews, training and consultancy.
Our clients have included more than 500 SMEs, corporates, non-profit organisations, public
sector organisations and digital agencies.
Over the last decade we have developed an exploratory testing methodology (rapid software
testing) that is the most efficient and effective approach for testing on web-based application
projects that are characterised by incomplete or inaccurate documentation, challenging
timescales and rapidly-changing circumstances.

Consultancy Services
Test Partners consultancy test services deliver experienced test resources and proven
processes to provide you with information about the quality of your software.
To ensure it is robust in production we test what your software can do, not just what
it should do, providing a level of thoroughness that traditional requirements-based testing
cannot match.
Our focus is finding bugs quickly and cost effectively. By providing an objective, independent
view of the software, you will have clear visibility of the bugs, risk and issues throughout your
development lifecycle. We minimise the risks of the product implementation, by validating
and verifying that the product:
 meets your documented requirements and contractual obligations,
 meets relevant external standards and specifications,
 and meets the needs of stakeholders and end users.
We have experience of working in Agile, Rapid Testing (exploratory) or Traditional (i.e.
Waterfall) development methodologies, and provide quality assurance solutions throughout
the development lifecycle, including:

Test Partners maximize time spent on testing, using rapid software testing (exploratory)
techniques via our Test Lab.

Accessibility testing services
Test Partners have a purpose-built accessibility test lab, to ensure that your website / app is
accessible and usable by the widest possible range of people.
We can provide three accessibility test services.
1. WCAG (normally level AA compliance).
2. Expert review
3. User testing with disabled participants
WCAG
Pages will be tested for compliance with the Level AA requirements of the W3C Web
Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.
Individual pages are analysed in isolation against a fixed set of accessibility criteria,
providing an assessment of the level of accessibility the website should achieve.

Expert Review
We provide technical testing (expert review). The website will be assessed by an
accessibility consultant who is proficient in the use of assistive technologies and has
extensive experience of user testing with participants with disabilities.
User Testing
And finally we can provide user-testing with disabled participants. The participants conduct a
number of tasks or scenarios, usually spanning multiple pages. As such this is more typical
of user behaviour than the WCAG tests, and provides an assessment of the level of
accessibility the website actually achieves for these particular types of user.

4. Relevant Experience
Test Partners have considerable experience of testing high-profile, high-risk websites, web-
based applications and mobile applications such as the following:
Web-based applications
 Harrods e-commerce website. 100 man-days of testing Harrods’ new e-commerce
system, and two further engagements since then. Testing incorporated the SOAP
connection to SAP, a full call centre application and links with a dozen third-party
web services such as payment systems, loyalty scheme, external search, image
library etc.
 Online banking for Abbey and Lloyds TSB. We conducted several engagements to
test the functionality, compatibility and accessibility of many aspects of their online
banking including mortgages, savings, and investments.
 Transport for London We won the competitive bid to be their preferred (and only) QA
and testing partner and have worked on multiple projects for them since 2010.
Currently we have implemented an automation framework, and have 4 automation
specialist developing an automated regression test suite in Selenium.
 National Rail Timetable. The developers, Thales, engaged us to conduct a series of
functionality and compatibility tests on the Journey Planner for the National Rail
Timetable website.
 Football Pools website. The three largest football pools companies, Littlewoods,
Vernons and Zetters are now owned by Sportech plc. Test Partners undertook 120
man-days of user acceptance testing of their new website, which contains 80 types of
game.
 TV Licensing website. several engagements to test the functionality, compatibility
and accessibility of the TV Licensing website as the legacy mainframe was
progressively adapted for real-time use, and a web application replaced offline
manual data processing.

Mobile applications
 Camelot. 60 man-days of functionality and compatibility testing of the National Lottery
iPhone application and web portal.
 Channel 4. several weeks of functionality and compatibility testing of the iPad
application for Jamie Oliver’s 15-minute meals.
 Cineworld. we tested the Android and iOS versions of Cineworld’s application for
cinema booking.
 Which? we undertook several months of functionality and compatibility testing on the
Consumers' Association’s new iPad and Android applications.
Accessibility
 Government Gateway project. one of our accessibility consultants was embedded in
a development team at Microsoft for 16 weeks, conducting technical testing and
expert reviews using assistive technologies.
 BBC Radio 2 and Radio 4 websites. we conducted several phases of accessibility
and compatibility testing for the websites for BBC programmes such as Womans’
Hour, You and Yours, Chris Evans, Simon Mayo and the BBC Orchestras.
 BBC Academy. we conducted a dozen projects to test their online courses for
compliance with the BBC’s Futuremedia Accessibility and Technical Guidelines.
 Accessibility testing for 30 of Procter & Gamble’s brands including Always, Clairol
Pro, Cover Girl, Febreze, Fekkai, Gillette, Herbal Essences, Olay, Old Spice, Oral-B,
Pantene, Vidal Sassoon, Gillette Venus, Vicks and Wella.

 Functional, Compatibility and Accessibility testing for Harrods, Mapping & Webb,
Diesel, Lexus, Sunseeker, Mercedes Benz, Dadu Luxe, Sea Island Coffee, Jaguar,
